On Sunday 26th January the Rotary Club of Tumbarumba supported by SVC invites all community members, along with friends and family of award recipients to the annual Tumbarumba Australia Day Awards Ceremony beginning at 10.30am in Goldfields Park near the Rotunda. The MC for the event will be SVC Mayor Julia Ham who along with our Australia Day Ambassador Debbie Gadd will acknowledge and present framed certificates to all the Australia Day Awardees who have been nominated and selected by their community peers. There will also be a special address from our ambassador based on this years theme of reflect, respect, celebrate. Live entertainment from Noelene Haslett and her 'band' of talented helpers will be provided before, during and after the ceremony, along with free BBQ lunch including lamington and cold drink and a relaxed space to chat and enjoy the company of everyone present. St Jude's Anglican Church is going to provide some lawn games which should be both entertaining and relaxing. What better way to reflect, respect and celebrate all that it is to be Australian but better still call Tumbarumba home. Please bring your own fold up chairs or picnic rug, pick a shade tree, relax and get ready to take part in our truly local Australia Day celebration.

Spotted dark, sunken spots on the ends of your tomatoes?

Blossom end rot is caused by a lack of calcium in the growing fruit, often due to inconsistent watering, heavy rain, or excess nitrogen. It’s most common in tomatoes, but can also be found in other summer crops such as capsicum, chill, and eggplant.

How to treat it:
🍅 Remove affected fruits to help the plant focus on new, healthy growth.
🍅 Apply a foliar feed of diluted calcium fertiliser to the plant’s leaves.
🍅 Improve your soil quality by adding organic matter, compost and manures and consider getting your soil tested to rule out soil deficiencies.
🍅 Follow a consistent watering regime further enhanced by mulch to retain the moisture in the soil.
