Joy N Perkins Authorised Marriage Celebrant
The concept for this business began in 2011 while studying for Cert IV., qualifications in Marriage Celebrancy. My services, under the title of, Earth Angel Celebrations, officially began in 2012 when my application was accepted and the Attorney General’s Department saw fit to register my name alongside my esteemed colleagues and Marriage Celebrants, Australia-wide. In 2013 I conducted my first wedding on a cliff, overlooking the mighty River Murray at a location called Wilkadene, SA.
Since then I have travelled the length and breadth of the country meeting with and providing ‘Services of Distinction’ - ranging from: wedding ceremonies, commitment, child naming and funeral services; not forgetting the honour of officiating at public receptions and providing speaking services for businesses and corporations. I am also a regular story-teller for the TenX9Fleurieu gatherings and as a writer and poet - I relish every opportunity to bring awareness to the ‘narrative within’ all of us, through proactive courses in Life Coaching.
The realisation, the dragonfly was to become my business logo came while witnessing a cloud of these beautiful creatures as they hovered and circled, swooped and flew overhead while standing at my Mum’s graveside. The fact it was mid-winter in Melbourne was significant, because these precious symbols are only prolific in summer. It was, for me, of major importance, that I acknowledge this universal sign because the dragon and damselfly defines “adaptability to change - with lightness and joy”. I love the delight and happiness they bring into our daily lives every time they appear in the first warm breeze of late spring and throughout the hotter months of summer. Commemorating my mother’s philosophy and faith, combined with her belief in my potential, urged me to recognise that she was indeed my ‘earth angel’ - hence the name: Earth Angel Celebrations.
