Zinnia Floral Designs A little sustainable flower and pasture raised egg farm. Growing beautiful seasonal flowers and raising chickens for eggs.

We are a small sustainable flower farm located in the hills of Waroona, Western Australia. Using our own grown blooms and other local and international growers we create loose whimsical garden style designs for the most discerning of flowers lovers. We host private and group workshops at our farm throughout the year for beginners through to advanced florists specialising in suspended and large scale installations and loose and airy bridal bouquets.

Eggs…they come in all shapes and sizes and I think that’s what I love, from the blue, olive, white, brown, spotty and then the slightly bumpy or funny shape. It’s nature it’s how it is.

As I delve deeper into the egg industry the different eggs are seen as not good, consumers want uniform eggs, size and colours the same and a perfect egg, somehow the inside which is perfect doesn’t matter, sound familiar.

Well I love our customers who embrace different, the perfectly imperfect eggs and the array of glorious colours. The people who want natural, healthy, delicious eggs are our kind of people 🥚

Let’s talk pigs…

This is me and Pepper Pig who is a heritage breed called Wessex Saddleback. Pepper is a second time mummy with a beautiful gentle nature. captured by the amazing .

I have always loved pigs. As a teenager I had the largest collection of piggy ornaments and collectables, it was a thing.

Now here I am with 6 beautiful sows and a boar and their offspring.

I am not going to lie, it’s incredibly hard and there are many days I question farming and if this is for me. I want to keep them all, it’s just not possible.

I give them a great life while they are with me where they can run around, wallow in the mud, eat quality food and have an abundance of tummy rubs and scratches, trust me they are quiet demanding and behave just like dogs, so there is many hours spent with them just giving them love!

This week 3 babies will leave for their new home and in no time become mummies themselves, others aren’t so lucky, but much luckier than those that never see the daylight, never get to roll in the mud and run freely. I hope soon we see intensive piggies come to an end, pigs aren’t meant to be raised in sheds and neither are chickens. They truly do deserve a better life and this is what I aim to do, be the better farmer!

Flowers, eggs and a few pigs…this is what 2025 will look like for me.

Our egg business is growing. We have a new chicken caravan arriving next month to house our chicks who will start laying in February, so before we know it we will have hundreds of dozens of delicious pasture eggs to deal with each week. Oh my!!

I have put a hold new weddings for the meantime and only taking limited flower orders until things are running smooth with the chickens and then we will reassess the weddings for the later part of 2025. I have previously taken on way too much and my health suffered so trying to do things a whole lot different these days and learning to do what works best for me.

So it’s exciting times ahead for Farmer Nat. Follow along as I share the journey of raising baby chicks for pasture eggs and growing beautiful flowers.

I love making beautiful hand tied bouquets especially when you have grown each and every stem.

My garden won’t be flushing again till the Spring…actually it’s a big overwhelming mess right now, so to keep the flowering going I have been buying in beautiful local natives and other seasonal blooms, the change is nice.

Being able to grow and design is essential to the success of a small scale flower farm. I am glad this is something I can do.

From the basic quick seller farm bunches to large scale weddings and events or creating beautiful heartfelt caskets for funerals, teaching, you name it, I can do it.

My garden has been a labour of love…it’s taken years to get to this level of abundance and it’s still a long way from where I would love it to be…but despite it being perfect and the many setbacks, I always keep going and for this I am rewarded.

Dahlia season is by far my favourite, these blooms are the most amazing flower to grow, the colours and varieties are so incredible it’s hard not to fall in love with them all.
