This Sunday, October 11, you can visit it closer to your home in the Bicentennial Park.
In a special edition dedicated to this delicious fruit, you will find a great variety of dishes made from jocote, organic, natural, healthy, ecological products and much more.
We will have different activities and many surprises. You cannot miss it!
JOCOTE which is derived from the Nahuatl word xocotl, meaning sour or acidic fruit. However, this fruit can be particularly sweet when it ripens long enough. Other popular common names of the fruits are Brazilian Plum, Chile Plum, Ciruela, Hog Plum, Jamaica Plum, Jocote, Ovo, Purple Jobo, Purple Mombin, Purple Plum, Red Mombin, Scarlet

Makes 20-22 patties
2kg beef mince
2 eggs
6 cloves garlic
2 onions
2 tsp mustard
Spike of rosemarry
2 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup parsley
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup tomato sauce
Black pepper to taste
Salt to taste
30 ml vegtable oil for cooking

We thank you all for having brace the Melbourne weather at this traditional Salvadoran civic and cultural event it was a truly significant wave of blue and white that showed up Sunday. The stage was marked and proudly setup by the 14th states and territories of El Salvador by members of such regions.
Thank you to the dignified guest, religious& cultural leaders, celebrities and distinguished authorities represented from Miss Gloria Madrigales spanish language school , Salvador Hope represented by Vania Labios,Elvira from Hispanic Society , our very own radio Cuzcatlan Djchica Fresita, Miss Carolina Snow from Frankston Art centre, Don Julio from 3zzz and Antena Hispana,
various Australian Consulates offices, the various organizations, the artist that clear up their busy schedule some flew from Adelaide in the case of Rolando “Trapito”to be part of this event and all performers, Maya Dance school and volunteers like Yoko miyagi in the food preparation, diña Marllita Linares, Jose Estrada , azza “mi no gringo”, and the Cubanito Alex Carreño in the moving and logistics all that made it ever so possible, a special thanks to singer Omar Pereira and Silvia Garro freshly arrived from Argentina and sing at the after party.
This year marked the 198th anniversary of independence of El salvador from Spain and showed that young and old are ever more engaged to their roots and heritage. The program emphasized the Diaspora & importance of Salvadoran abroad and what we all are doing around the world. Our Consulate general speech was informative and welcome us all to stay active positive with the programs in place.
