The WollCon admin office closes at 5pm Friday 20 December and re-opens on Monday 6 January 2025 (noting that office hours will be 9am-5pm throughout January).

We will also be taking a break from our socials for a while. 😊

The first day of term 1 at WollCon in 2025 will be Monday 3rd February.

WollCon and colleagues at all NSW regional conservatoriums are thrilled to see the Arts and Music Education & Training in NSW Inquiry Report’s findings and recommendations (released last week).

"Regional conservatoriums provide excellent music education and services and foster creativity and connectedness in regional communities in New South Wales."

"That the NSW Government increase funding to regional conservatoriums and review key performance measures and service gaps, especially around engagement with schools, under the Regional Conservatorium Grants Program, to ensure sustainable future growth."

Earlier in 2024, WollCon submitted a response to the Inquiry investigating Arts and Music Education and Training in NSW, which included information on the significant role regional conservatoriums play in music education in schools with programs delivered by our music teachers.

We hosted the Community Industry Group - Illawarra Forum today for their Annual General Meeting.
It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase some of our music staff and students.
And - Our CEO Annette Brown spoke with The Cram Foundation’s Sarah Mason about our 2024 collaboration - Our Music Therapy Project for Cram Residents.

The Regional Youth Orchestra (RYO) NSW - is back together for their final concert of 2024.
Including the complete Sibelius Violin Concert with Jonah Spriggs and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No 6.

Friday 13 Dec, 4pm - 5:30pm at the Eugene Goossens Hall in Ultimo, Sydney.

We are thrilled to have WollCon’s Trish Delaney-Brown as the Music Director for this Christmas council event. Trish is organising a special Christmas Band with WollCon staff and has lined up our amazing youth choirs to perform as well as the Hummingbirds. Did you know that WollongongU3A Choir rehearses at WollCon each Tuesday from 1pm? Today Annette Brown joined them.

Members of the choir are thrilled by the joy and challenge of singing in the group as well as the wonderful friendships that are formed. Looks like they had a lot of fun today!

In association with Wollongong City Council we are thrilled to be part of this wonderful evening of entertainment.
A Christmas Band with WollCon staff and our amazing youth choirs. As well as carols, there will be a Circus Monoxide Youth Troupe, some roving entertainment, festive face painting, and visit from Santa and his elves. A free community event & everyone welcome!

Sunday 15th December from 10am: End Of Year Performance Day at WollCon. A free day or music making. Representing all genres, there’ll be something for everyone, from jazz to classical, singing to guitar ensembles.
WollCon’s annual concerto competition will be held in Room 1 / 2 and everyone is invited to experience our advanced students compete for the $1000 prize money. Everyone welcome!
