I don’t make many custom tutus anymore, but when I am asked by a lovely dancer, who I have made tutus for since she was about eight, to make what may be her last tutu, how could I say no?
The brief was for a very sparkly Black Swan inspired tutu in black and silver with touches of purple.

Again not tutus but great to see someone I made a lot of tutus, and other costumes, for as a little girl, doing so well!!

Fuchsia velvet, fully lined Russian style bodice is teamed with nine layers of stiff gathered net, shading from white through to pale pink. The plate is also fuchsia velvet edged with custom coloured glitter motifs mounted in net. Both bodice and plate and decorated with “vitrail” gems in jewel tones which change colour depending on which angle they are viewed from, plus deep gold rhinestones.

I have been a long time supporter of the Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation in Ethiopia, which provides treatment for sufferers of obstetric fistulas, but also is trying to eradicate the cause of the problem by training midwives. As I have a new granddaughter due in May, it makes me even more aware of how lucky we are to live in a country with excellent health care, and that not all women do.

This is my favourite of the new blossom/ flower tutus I have been playing with, so that’s the one I will auction off starting now.
There is no reserve price and every cent of the final auction price will be donated.
The auction will finish at 5pm on Monday 11th of March, which is very fittingly Labour Day in Victoria, and also my birthday!

Fully lined cream Lycra bodice is teamed with eight layers of stiff gathered net, shading from coffee through beige to cream. Bodice and plate are decorated with appliquéd gold and black patterned lycra, braid in black and gold plus light Colorado topaz and rainbow rose gold rhinestones and light Colorado topaz jewels.
For added glitter on stage an added layer of Starlight glitter tulle was added below the top net layer. I will put a video in comments.
