In winter mode.

The cooler weather brings a change of pace to the farm. No longer is there a focus on picking crops.

The farm is not an abundance of colour. But the farms to-do list has grown quickly
and now it it’s time to get them crossed off the list.

We are behind the scenes ordering plants, prepping beds, fixing and maintaining machinery, forward planning for the year.

All this planning leads to lots of ideas getting thrown around, lots of family chit chat and heated discussions. Cherished family bonding moments are being created and new skills are being learnt in all our DIY projects.

This weeks pickings are poppies, sunflower, Queen Anne lace, seaholly, and kale.

The highlight of this week is the gorgeous delphinium as seen in the image.

Countless hours have passed from the time we have a field of beautiful blooms.

The moment begins as we choose the flower to grow. To the ever important selection of just the right colour and form of flower.

Many hands plant, care for and tend to the blooms.

The flower field has been loved and prospers.

The golden hour arrives when we look upon our blooms and take a deep breath in satisfaction and think

‘Wow-beautiful!’

Spring is near.

One of my favourite times of year just before the farm is at a hive of activity. The anticipation of things to come and hurrying of things to get done.

Bees are gathering. The birds are out. Flowers are beginning to gather momentum. Seedlings have truly sprouted out of the ground.

The farm tools are getting ready for a workout. The tractor is going back and forth.

The excitement of new season blooms and planning and rejuvenation of new garden beds.

Everyone and everything is awakening - Spring.

Our first lot of poppies are coming thru for the year.

For our production manager, Marco it has been the first time growing poppies. Over the past week we have been hearing the following phrases on repeat;
“These are the tallest poppies I’ve ever seen”
“The poppies are better than any poppies pups has ever grown”
“These poppies are amazing”,
“Look! how beautiful the poppies are”

We all reply “Yes Bello! They are amazing”

Secretly we couldn’t be more happier of the successes he is achieving on the farm.

We also get very excited when the first poppy begins. One of our favourite blooms to give you that happy feels.
