Huge shout out to #holdingbackthetide for making an amazing documentary. The film is obviously all about oysters and NYC but it’s also about queer identity and politics that are separating us all from each other and the way that the oyster brings us all together. Possibly the oldest food source known to mankind oysters are an amazing example of how we all do our own part in making up this world and can contribute to making a brighter and healthier future. Not only are oysters Transgender but they are a bedrock for the ocean floor and contribute enormously to all the animals of land and sea and can very easily be overlooked for the life they live and how it’s impacting to everything around us! Did you know that oysters stop beach erosion, filter more than 40 gallons of water a day at full maturity and create the habitat for all of the species of sea creatures that come to the shoreline to reproduce and eat? OYSTERS ARE EVOLUTIONARY IN EVERY SENSE! And they are also an endangered species if not for the work of the oyster farmers and environmentalists who are trying to feed and protect us all! MORE FROM THE MOTHERSHUCKERS EAT YO OYSTERS CAMPAIGN! These kids are probably grown now lol but this video is all about postpartum and the high nutritional value of oysters! After give birth to child the loss of mineral content to the blood and proteins to the rest of the body is immeasurable! Besides the emotional and mental effects and the fact you could only experience oysters cooked if you love them for the previous 9 months before childbirth. Oysters are a phenomenal source of zinc, iron , copper and magnesium amongst other things like fatty omega3s in highly digestible form.
