Our Local Livingstone Shire Council are lighting up red this week for Hemochromatosis week. A good reminder for a blood test if this is an issue for you or a loved one. Sometimes, you don't know you inherited it - until you happen upon it. If you have been feeling tired and flat with aching joints for a long time - talk to your doc about this.

The key messages of the week are:
🔴 Haemochromatosis is the most common genetic disorder in Australia
🔴 If you are the 1 in 200 affected, it can cause serious health problems
🔴 Ask your doctor to find out if you are storing too much iron

Looking forward to the Ag & Sustainability expo at Tanby Garden Centre, between Yeppoon & Emu Park tomorrow 9-1pm. I'll be sharing for a few minutes about the EAT ALLEY COMMUNITY GARDEN and it's development at the Yeppoon Community Centre and the great use of this space - a great initiative of Youth In Livingstone Youth Action Group earlier this year. Come and check out some stella speakers - Paul Raynor of CQ Gardening Naturally High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm Yeppoon Rockhampton Native Bees association Melissa Luxmoore Maia Landscapes, and my favourite Biodynamic farmer Ken Mason! PLUS SO excited to see Morag Gamble founder of the Permaculture Education Institute.
I'll INVITE all of you to come and spend some precious time in the garden - to plant, water, propagate, socialise, feed the worms, and do tid-bits of art projects (have you seen some of the cool signs Daryl has put in?) and end with a cup of tea (the secret ingredient!)! Also - Check out St Ursulas new Food Pantry. See you at the Agriculture & Sustainability Expo Sunday 9am-1pm

If you were at the building of this garden - you might find a snapshop of yourself in these little promos of Eat Alley - a HUGE Thank you to you.
