“ STORMKOP is an out-of-touch free state for young and not so young adventurers, living in and abandoned shipyard on the antwerp dry docks. The protagonists are children and adolescents. Together with their f(r)family, classmates, teacher, acquaintances and strangers, they are immersed in a world of art, philosophy, science, sustainability and adventures.

STORMKOP is a place where hands get dirty, knees get dirty and your heart gets kicked in. STORMKOP does not provide solutions. The search for answers is more important than finding them, the journey more meaningful than the final destination. Thus STORMKOP tells the story of somewhere and nowhere, winning and losing, trying and failing, trying again and failing again. But each time better, more beautiful and more intense....

STORMKOP likes to flutter and b(r)ow outside in an atypical industrial environment that breathes maritime heritage. STORMKOP consciously chooses the contrary, is attracted to the rough, the unrelated. STORMKOP seeks both disharmony and connection. This is how the real world enters.

Next artist in our spotlight: White Noise! Hard & energetic fast paced techno on the menu.

“My set is a highly energetic, fast pacing and hard mix. I play a variety of underground Hard techno/industrial with the occasional commercial edit to appeal to a wider audience.”

About White Noise:
Antwerp based DJ White Noise (‘99) started playing electronic music in 2011. Raised in Schelle by two house and techno loving parents, Yorgen was already jumping and dancing to their music since he was a child. Even at the time it was clear that Yorgen would become a musician himself.

Things got serious in 2017 when he was noticed by Crystal Events and got the opportunity to play at The Rave Cave of Tomorrowland. Things took off from there and requests came in from all over Belgium. At the age of 25 he is still improving as a DJ and producer as he is exploring the musical landscapes of Hard Techno.

During his four year musical education, he chose to master the drums. It was his interest in rhythm and his ability to create his own beats that made him choose this instrument. In time he started to experiment with electronic sounds and made a couple of Hard Techno edit’s of old songs. It was his remix of The Police - Message In A Bottle that got supported by famous artists in the Hard Techno scene like: Trym, Luciid, Vendex…

Yorgen already performed at Studio Brussel, Tomorrowland, Club Vaag, The Common, Hard Harder Hardst, Dour Festival, Vice Festival, Studio Ibiza and loads of other parties in Belgium. An insane passion for music, combined with the ability to mix different styles of music made him the promising DJ that he is today.

As a foretaste of full circle next week, we invited for our next Artist in the Spotlight podcast. In this mix she takes us on a unique 1h trip between Electro, House & Techno!

“On my last flight, all of a sudden there was a weird kind of turbulence.. My chief and commander told me to check out the left wing. Armed with my trust against rust WD40, I left my copilot and went to the machine room. There I saw the machine-room-man slowly losing his mind. Looks like he must have made eye contact with an acidbird.. An acidbird is in the machine room?! Of course!! That’s where the noises came from! I put on my Neptune glasses and started looking in between the machines.. must. not. make. eye contact! A drip of light got my attention and there it was! Beautiful! So wild! So many colours shimmering in the moonlight! It was exhausted and haunted. I caught it with a blanket and tried to calm it down. It started to make purry noises and became very friendly when it saw I was meaning no harm. I could see his name engraved in a ring around his fluffy claws “Leopold”. It made it clear it got in by accident and wanted to go out again, it asked the machine-room-man nicely but got into a discussion because he got blinded by its eyes. Thank the universe for Neptune glasses! I gave it some nutrition and it thanked me with some warm, heart filling energy! Time to open the window and set it free again.. it flew out, into the cosmos, with the intention that its feeling of freedom and grace would spread over the earth. Leaving me and the, by now totally nuts, machine-room-man with a pleasant and blessed flight towards the future."

Microwave's sound consists of acid infused electro with leaking drips of techno and house, occasionally spiced with a slice of a crunchy 80’s-90’s tune. Playing with tensions within a various palette of track selections, she’ll grab you and take you on journey trough space and time, giving you that underground club feeling. She can cook, heat you up and turn you around. The higher the wattage, the faster the cooking time. Adapting to line-up and playtimes.

This week in our spotlight: pumping techno by !

“For this mix I chose the kind of tracks that give me inspiration when I work on my own tracks. You'll hear influences of harder, darker techno mixed with neorave/acid sounds.
At around 16 minutes I also added an unreleased track of mine called Gettin' Started. Closing the set with a dreamy, rolling mix of an modern classic dance track.”

About VOIT:
Tom Ghielens, producing and dj'ing under the alias VOIT out of Antwerp has been working on his sound for quite some years. Starting out dj'ing local venues and producing with his friend. Lately he's been putting in the hours in the studio under his solo project VOIT, resulting in the recent release of his track "PSMP" on Theacidmind records.
His sound is a mix of hard and dark techno with some modern acid influences. You'll hear this in both his productions and mixes.

No boring four to the floor beats, but strictly sounds that give crowds not a single moment to rest during gigs.

Herman Crespo is deliberately not known for 39 goals at Lazio Roma. This one digs crates, loves an emotional trance-vocal and questions everything he sees. The Spanish-Belgian has been collecting and selecting the finest gems for over more than ten years, and aims to deliver eclectic and electrifying sets. Only once he forgot to include his signature piano chords. Trust us, this man’s career will not end at Chelsea.

TWO/THREE made their debut in early '23 with their first track released on Amsterdam-based Marked.Since then, their journey has been nothing short of phenomenal. In June '23, the two talented Antwerp-basedartists released their debut EP on the prestigious Berlin techno label A R T S, alongside renowned acts likeAmelie Lens, I Hate Models, Kas:st, Shlømo, and Dax J. Big news, which they were recently allowed to announceexclusively at StuBru. Their newest EP will be released on the legendary label Suara, alongside Charlotte DeWitte, Enrique Sangiuliano & Coyu. TWO/THREE's momentum shows no signs of slowing down as they gracerenowned venues such as Fuse, Club Vaag, and Dour.

While being a lifetime long lover of the energy music brings in underground scenes, she started DJing only a couple years ago. Curating sounds that create her own high-energetic journeys. Finding a companion in Illustre, she started to extend that storytelling in an experience that goes beyond sound.

About Chumba:
Born on October 6th 1989, Chumba’s lifelong fascination with electronic music has been the driving force behind his artistic journey. From the early days of listening to cassette tapes from “club illusion,” his passion has led him to where he stands today.

Chumba’s love affair with electronic music began as a young soul, captivated by the entranging beats and melodies that flowed through the wires. His evolution has been marked by a deep exploration of various electronic music genres, ultimately finding his home in the realm of techno; within this domain, he weaves a unique tapestry where hypnotic sounds and irresistible grooves reign supreme.

In our spotlight this week: Remorseless hard techno by VERBØV!

“For the Sound of Antwerp podcast I’ve recorded a 1 hour mixtape wich shows my style and sound. The mixtape consists of a mix between hard techno/acid/hard groove/techno. Balancing different genres together like i would do when i’m performing. You can also find a production of my own (my first) in the tracklist."

About VERBØV:
Senne Verboven AKA VERBØV is a young (hard) techno dj/producer born and raised in Antwerp, Herentals, Belgium. His style can be described as hard, powerful and energetic. VERBØV has been a DJ for 4 years and started producing in september 2022.

The main goal when VERBØV performs is establishing a connection between the audience and the DJ. Mixing on the fly and combining different subgenres to keep the flow/groove going.

One of his greatest achievements would be reaching the finals of KONTEST ANTWERP out of 85 sendings. During the finals he was coached by the belgian techno legend Steve Redhead. Another one would be simply playing in different big city’s around Belgium and meeting awesome like minded people in the scene.
