700 FOLLOWERS! 🥳 It makes me so happy to see that there are so many dried flower and sustainable candle lovers out there! 🌱

As we have many new people following us lately 🥰🥰 I thought I’d share some insights on where our dried flowers come from👇🏼

At Prairie we find it important to source our flowers locally to support our local economy 🇧🇪

As I live in a city apartment, I don’t have the space yet to grow, dry, and color my own flowers 🤷🏻‍♀️ That’s why I purchase most of my plants and dried grasses at a wholesale flower store in Antwerp.. but the prices are currently going through the roof 🙈

Ideally, I would like to start growing some flowers and grasses in my parents’ garden 👩🏻‍🌾 super fun but definitely a challenge as I haven’t tested my green fingers yet 🥴🌿 I’ve been postponing it for a year now, so I really need to put it on the to do list for 2023! 🤭

Next to that, I often collect grasses from their natural habitat during holidays in France and Italy. The process is so satisfying 💚

I’m definitely lucky to have an understanding boyfriend who accepts stopping the car every time I see some dried grasses next to the road and I want to fill our car with these plants for the ride home 😍🌾

OUR VERY FIRST SALE 🎀

That was back in 2020. The pandemic had hit, and I just started creating some dried flower bouquets. My friends and family were so excited to have one, that I already sold some bouquets before even launching the first collection 🙈 This one was my first sale and very special as it was meant as a gift for a man who just had lost a loved one.

Last week someone also came in to buy flowers for someone who lost his grandmother. Dried flowers are an amazing gift idea as they last so long. I gave him a yellow bouquet so the person would get positive feelings when looking at the bouquet, and think back of happy memories 🤍

You can say whatever you want but .. how sad would a wedding be without the floral decorations? ☺️💐🌸🌷

These are some of the many bouquets I created for the wedding of in June 💍

Katrien selected an amazing color palet, sending me some moodboard ideas, and coming up with beautiful vases, and I’m in love with the result! The salmon color matches so well with the eucalyptus, a match made in heaven 🤩

And this is what I love most about Prairie: collaborating with my customers and coming to a wonderful result together 😍🌸

How come there are two tones of green in the left candle? 🐊

No, it is not a special trick 🪄 What happened here is that I was way too curious of the result, and the candles were actually not 100% ready yet - oops 🙊 When a candle cools off, the color of the wax always darkens. During the hardening process, the central part of the candle takes more time to cool off. This is why the candle on the picture is still showing a light green color in the middle 🤭🐢

One of my all-time favourites: Taiga🌲🐻

I always try to name my bouquets after a place, a feeling, a concept that reminds me of it. 💭 A name always adds that extra dimension to the bouquet, making it more than just flowers: it’s a mood, it has a story of its own, and it brings a specific energy to your home. 🦚

Sometimes the name comes up rather easily, other times it’s a real struggle. In this case, the white and green tones, together with the long green steels, instantly made me think of a cold forest landscape covered with snow, and lightened by a warm ray of sun. 🌄
