Our Story

WECANDANCE is an annual summer festival that takes place on the beach in Zeebrugge. The festival owes its unique boutique identity to a mix of music, food and fashion, three cornerstones that are put forth towards a new theme for every edition.

#WECANDANCE

WECANDANCE offers an array of musical styles ranging from the familiar to the more experimental. By programming lesser-known artists representing upcoming genres we express our openness towards the future and by acknowledging new emerging communities we welcome their creative contribution.

More established artists provide the festival with an accessibility that balances out the overall line-up. We have six stages of different sizes and settings and host a mix of home-grown and international talent.

#WECANTASTE

WECANDANCE has a radically different approach to food. Aside from it being yet another way of bringing people together, it is also one of the festival’s main cornerstones. All the dishes served in our Food Market meet quality standards not generally associated with ‘traditional’ festival food. By stepping away from fast food and focusing on a variety of qualitative meals we again bring the unconventional to the table. We also work together with a number of renowned chefs who create signature meals referring to the edition’s theme.

By using organic products and disposable tableware we make an ecological stance. As a festival deeply invested in the future we are very aware of environmental challenges and the efforts we are required to make as responsible event-organisers.

WECANDANCE is about indulging in the potential of the unconventional and this includes interesting or even unexpected collaborations. Fashion is about self-expression, which is why it is part of our DNA as our third cornerstone.

By teaming up with influential names from the fashion scene and asking them to design items or even limited collections that reflect the edition’s theme, we create an exclusivity that reinforces the event’s uniqueness. This concept has been immensely popular from the get-go, an indication of just how fashion-sensitive our audience is.

In 2013 we received two awards from RBEA for ‘Best Breakthrough Festival’ and the ‘Marc Meulemans Award’, followed by another nomination for ‘Best Festival’ in 2017. That same year, we were also praised with the Culinarynnovators Award as Best Event by Gault&Milau.
