The COUNTERPOWER EXPO is a cooperation between TiNWwP, Flyers For Falastin, Itsnotcomplicatedbxl and three Palestinian artists.

~ 𝗜𝘁𝘀𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱𝗯𝘅𝗹 and 𝗙𝗹𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 are two collectives dedicated to raise awareness about the Palestinian cause through art, cultural events and visual media. Since we believe in art as a powerful way to address existing power structures and systematic oppression, this expo is providing a platform for both Palestinian and international artists to express counterpower.

𝗜𝘁𝘀𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱𝗯𝘅𝗹 will present a timeline of occupation in Palestine along with an explanation of the timeline at 17.00, after the welcoming speech.
𝗙𝗹𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 will present a selection of 13 posters illustrated by different
artists from all over the world, who created powerful illustrations for Palestine. .tattoo .kamp .00.4

~ 𝗜𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗿, 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗘𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗽𝘁 and 𝗛𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘆𝗮 are three Palestinian artists born in Gaza, who will share with us their artworks. There will be a possibility to support the artists by buying their work. There will also be an interactive “occupation wall” where we can collectively write and draw to express our thoughts and feelings on the ongoing situation in Palestine and other places in the world.

In this workshop we will explore, contemplate and embody counterpower through our voices and bodies. Through Briana's Stuart's movement practice in percussive dance (notably Stepping), rhythm and movement, participants will get in touch with the innate potential and force of their own bodies and explore what it means to be present, take up space, and reclaim one's voice. Participants will be invited into healing practices that work with the body and voice, connect them to those around them, and empower us all to deconstruct power from the inside out.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝘀𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁 .ashley.stuart is a performing artist, dancer and choreographer. In her artistic work, she is interested in audience interaction, philosophy and how the history and culture of art forms are directly linked to the human condition and expression. She presented her latest work Moving Meditations, a multidisciplinary work about healing at KVS Brussels in March 2023, which was the first step in her research into percussive dance and movement and sound in space. More about her artistic interests and works can be seen in her introspective dance lecture "Stepping: Freedom in Form" produced by the BOZAR museum in Brussels, and more recently his dance lecture "How to Unveil the Secret Power of Movement and Sound to Create" at TEDxBrussels in May 2023.

The consequences of geopolitical injustice, social inequality and ecological urgency are intensifying, deepening tangible and long lasting rifts. There is an urgent need to act for change of the capitalist heteropatriarchal white supremacist model of endless extraction and exploitation. Between the lack of access to quality housing, care and education, having one’s papers, exhaustion caused by invisibilised and exploitative jobs, systemic racism and other oppressive mechanisms, cries the call for a life in dignity that deserves to be considered together.

Facing this, we feel that it’s essential for struggles to converge, in order to leave no one behind and to share our forces of counterpower. This call for a conjuncture of struggles is also held amongst the crème de la crème of Belgium's activist collectives regarding their struggles, visions and practices of collective care.

During this talk, we'd like to explore:

This discussion will be moderated by 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝘀. Stephanie (shey/they) is an anthropologist, ex-social worker, trainer and consultant. She trains organisations big and small, local and international, on anti-racism, decolonisation, intersectionality, climate justice, feminism, queerness and biraciality. Stephanie was raised in Ghana, has studied in the Netherlands and Belgium, where she has been involved with various climate justice and anti-racist movements.

We are eagerly unveiling the first artist of the ᑕOᑌᑎTEᖇᑭOᗯEᖇ programme - 💫

كَلاَّ ، كلا قا (𝘈 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴, 𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢-𝘬𝘢) is the story of an adult who revisited childhood desires and its unique ways of expression after being confronted by the realities of the capitalist world, having lived in six different cities in three continents, thinking: "Kalla-ka, this can’t be it!".

A storytelling approach to an ever-evolving piece, based on the artist's journey, research, and common human questioning, adopting the notion of personal narratives in a universal language as a healing power and as a way to collective consciousness.

Power dynamics are inherent to how our society is shaped and to how we grow, individually and in community. Considering the unhealthy foundations and destructive effects, we think it is time to build a different culture, in which we recognize privilege and oppression, daring to correct ourselves and each other to enable real change.

Many ancient wisdoms from different cultures as well as recent research in neuroscience, teach us that an emotional- and body centred approach to oppression is necessary. During this workshop we will experiment with awareness and transformation of harmful power dynamics, offering you tools to regulate your own emotions and body at any moment, and to re-center when you are feeling overwhelmed.

𝗖𝗲́𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝘇𝗮 .by.celine is a mindfulness trainer and performer. She uses meditation, movement and voice to transform trauma. She uses these tools in her own healing process, in her art and in the guidance she offers others. It is important for her today to combine her meditative, social and artistic processes to share her knowledge with the community.

𝗬𝗹𝘃𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗴 is a multilingual Deep Democracy trainer and facilitator (inclusive decision-making and conflict resolution) for children and adults, Trainer MBSR/MBCT and Mindful Parenting, Embodiment student, volunteer in a social movement and socio-cultural associations, singer and mother of three teenagers.

For the organisation of the closing party this Saturday at Zinneke Parade, we are humbled to collaborate with la La Voix Des Sans Papiers Bruxelles (VSP). The VSP is a self-managed collective born in 2014 from the occupation of a building in Molenbeek by 250 so-called "undocumented" people (i.e. excluded from the right of residence and therefore from fundamental rights). The occupation quickly became a space for political struggle, with the central demand being regularization for all.

En 2019, comme réponse pragmatique à une politique migratoire raciste, VSP a lancé le projet 𝙔 𝙀𝙉 𝘼 𝙈𝘼𝙍𝙍𝙀 !!! pour mettre en lien une personne sans papier avec quelqu’un·e pouvant la soutenir dans ses démarches administratives (contactez-les pour devenir accompagnant : [email protected]).
