In a time where so much happens— and not for the better —there’s something profoundly special & strange about being here, existing.

Amid this chaos, I sometimes try to focus on my internal world, a softer and more forgiving space compared to the harshness outside. I just turned 27, and it feels like being suspended in a kind of liminal, in-between place. You’re no longer 20, where your life revolved around the same familiar concerns, but you’re not yet tethered to what comes next either.

At this age, you start to really meet yourself—yet somehow, you’re still a bit of a stranger. You make choices that feel permanent, or at least others around you do. You feel uncertain, yet more and more sure of yourself. This space feels undefined yet, almost ready. Being 27 feels like standing in a polyvalent space: expansive, unformed, full of possibility. I want to keep it open, keep it wide. And 30? That’s just a number. Another kind of waiting room. Isn’t that what life is, in the end? A cycle of waiting, observing, doing, reflecting. And mostly, about loving.

Does this sound familiar to you?

//ASAP PILAR: INLAND ISLAND - 25.03//

Inland Island finds itself between a guided meditation and a séance. A guided meditation, where attention becomes an act of imagination. And a séance for unfolding the limited dichotomies through which we tend to look at the world around us: fiction/reality, near/far, I/other. With a central part and fascination for the hands of the listener.

These hands of yours, look at them.
Look at your primary way of holding onto things.
Your medium, really, for getting a grip on the world, to handle it, to hold it still,
For if not, it might move around and over you uncontrollably.

But when soft hands tenderly open up a gap, the unknown full of things, full of beings, may come into the light to play.

There is a lot happening here.

In this a performative installation / poetic audiopiece, you take a seat at a table with a small group of participants. Through headphones, you are addressed by a voice without a body. This voice belongs to a liminal being - an angel, an alien? At the same time present and absent, this eternal witness speaks about things happening at and far beyond that table.

“If we opened people up, we’d find landscapes” (Agnes Varda)

This being is looking for connection, both with the listener as between the listeners. Like a sort of science fiction, Inland Island opens up a broader, more tender view of the present and the individual in it.

60 Belgian artists donate a song to raise money for Hope Fondation to help children in Gaza.

‘Start Making Sense’ is an exclusive compilation album in which 60 Belgian artists donated one song to raise money for HOPE Foundation . A charity that works with artists and teachers to help children suffering from the effects of the devastating genocide in Gaza.

The album is a combination of new songs, reworked versions of existing music, live recordings, memo’s and demos, donated specifically for this fundraiser album.

All proceeds will go in full and directly to HOPE Foundation and their Cultural Emergency Fund. Besides the usual psychosocial and artistic projects, this fund is also used for humanitarian aid such as food, water, clothing and hygiene. (e.g. Building ovens in camps,...) HOPE Foundation aims to enable children in conflict areas to build a meaningful life for themselves.

One of the artists who donated a song for Hope Foundation is - who will play in Pilar on the 20th of February. Check out ‘Swamp’ on ‘Start Making Sense’.

One concept that perfectly encapsulates this duality is 𝑳𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚.

_(In vitro*) is a project space and event series based in Brussels. It focuses on promoting contemporary music and sound art through live performances and time-based exhibitions.

By cultivating new frameworks for experimental practices, it tries to nurture an artistic community that’s often overlooked in their commercial and institutional fields. In vitro seeks to create a platform for the dissemination of sound on an international scale.

In vitro kicks off our ASAP PILAR: THE LIMINAL EDITION Festival. Over a month, our programming will feature concerts, art, and theatre that explore and embody the concept of the liminal. Where do we stand? Have we arrived at our destination? And how does it feel to dwell in the uncertainty of not knowing?

Dive in! Wait together.🤍🫶

PILAR ASAP X: THE LIMINAL EDITION

Spaces of empathy and inclusion are shrinking, demanding vigilance to protect. How do we navigate this uncertain, in-between phase of existence, and also within our own mental space of being?

ASAP Pilar: The Liminal Edition invites reflection on liminality—on not knowing, simply being, and embracing transitions. Imagine discovering a cookie tin from your grandmother’s home, now empty, bathed in light. What feelings emerge in this moment of change?
Liminality is both a physical and mental state—familiar yet strange, melancholic yet transformative. It’s a space where change becomes possible.
