I have always found such unique beauty in multicultural marriages.🤍

Two people, from occasionally completely different backgrounds, different cultures with different traditions, committing to respect and be there for each other for a lifetime. To learn about each other's cultures, to be open, curious and accepting of different traditions, to stay patient, and supportive of one another - even when it turns out to be hard. And sometimes, it will.

But when two people join forces together to bring out the best of both worlds - that's when the magic happens.🤍

Having been an expat bride myself, I honestly understand the headache you can get ( sometimes literally... ) from trying to figure out the legal requirements, gathering the proper documents and navigating through the admin process so you can finally marry your love here in Belgium. I feel your pain. So I did something for you!😊

Believe it or not, this common misconception nearly stopped me from pursuing my dream of becoming a wedding planner.

Back in high school, we had career day where we met with professionals in fields we were interested in, to see what the reality of the industry is, so we can make better choices about our further education and future career field. I chose wedding planning, thrilled to dive into a world of joy and glamour. I remember being sooooo excited, I showed up in my best outfit with a huge smile, ready to hear all about this amazing career.
But the wedding planner I met was completely burned out. She cared me into thinking that becoming a planner meant being on call 24/7, jumping out of bed at 2 a.m. if a bride needed me. She made it sound like my life as I knew it would be over.

At the time, I didn’t know any better, so I chose another path. Now I realize she simply didn’t have healthy boundaries in her business, while it was her responsibility to set those and communicate them to her clients from the get go.

That’s why I make a point of setting clear expectations with my couples from the start. In our onboarding meeting I clearly define how our relationship will go moving forward, and what my communication practices are, so I can provide the highest level of service and be the best version of myself. Because no planner can be effective if he or she is overwhelmed and overworked with no time to disconnect and recharge. And it's our job not to let that happen.😊🤍

But I'm curious of your thoughts. Do you expect a planner to be available 24/7?

A traditional bouquet toss ~ yes or no?🤍

It's a fun tradition that symbolizes passing on the luck of love to the next bride-to-be. It can be a joyful, lighthearted and often competitive way for the bride to celebrate her single friends and wish them luck in love. Many brides look forward to this moment ~but what if the bouquet toss isn’t quite your style?
If it feels awkward, or if you don’t have single friends, there are plenty of creative ways to put a little spin on this tradition! 😊

You could present the bouquet to your parents after a thank-you speech, gift it to the longest-married couple during a fun dance game, or even keep it and turn it into a keepsake for your home decor.🤍 After all, you've spent enough money on it, haven't you?

I know it may sound like just another cliché, but think about how many times you’ve faced a challenge that seemed impossible to overcome.
Whether it was a school performance, a final exam, a job interview, or in my case: the recent experience of bringing my baby boy into this world... that definitely felt impossible, until it wasn't. 😄
