Om zijn transparante structuur, om zijn visuele gelijkenis met de Stadshal en de Sint-Niklaaskerk, om zijn symboliek als broeikas voor allerhande (Gentse) projecten. Dit grootstedelijke paviljoen ontpopt zich tot een veelzijdige en originele eventlocatie.

RAY is een ontmoetingsplek voor toevallige passanten en buurtbewoners, voor spelende kinderen en hun ouders. Het is een gebruiksruimte voor culturele happenings en exposities, voor enthousiaste ondernemers en hun projecten, voor de Gentenaars en hun verenigingen, voor trouwers en andere feesten. Het is een subtiel maar esthetisch belangrijk landmark, met respect voor de omgeving, met veel groen, zonder veel de aandacht op te eisen, maar met een duidelijke identiteit.
