The Brussels Rhythm and Blues Club exists for people that enjoy live music with soul. Started by three friends back in 2002 on a non-profit making basis, it aims to recreate the ambience of a Chicago blues club with non-stop live bands. Usually one Saturday every month we put on a double bill of rhythm and blues bands. Our guest bands reflect the broad R’n’B church that runs from soul and funk (Th

e Boogaloo Investigators, Bai Kamara, Tony O’Malley, Gene Drayton Unit), through traditional blues (Scotch No Soda, Bob Christopher, John Frick) to rock and roll (Roberto), blues rock (Basement Apes, The Inflexibles) and garage rock (The Wildebeests, Lord Rochester, The Masonics), and from the latest generation of artists (Matt Schofield, Paul Garner) to pioneers of the 60s British rhythm and blues scene (The Pretty Things). The BRBC was originally hosted by the Athanor in the centre of Brussels but moved to the beautiful turn of the century café ‘Le Sounds' in the heart of Ixelles from March 2003, where you can enjoy a wide range of local beers and organic wines. After suspending concerts in March 2020 due to Covid 19, BRBC is restarting its concerts as of December 2021.

BRBC is delighted to welcome back rock and blues legend Dick Taylor. Dick played with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards in Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys and was then the first bass player in the Rolling Stones. Dick left the Stones to go to art school, where he met Phil May and formed The Pretty Things whose string of mid-60s hits included 'Rosalyn', 'Don't Bring Me Down' (both covered by David Bowie on 'Pin Ups') and 'Midnight to Six'. J.C. Grimshaw plays guitar, mandolin and harmonica while his sister Angelina has been described by Mojo magazine as a “Blues moaner in the great tradition of Bessie and Ma... mesmeric”.

BRBC houseband Midnight Mary will be performing their popular R'n'B repertoire, featuring classics by Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Bo Diddley, Elmore James, Junior Wells, Link Wray, Big Mama Thornton, Otis Redding, Al Greenand others.

Smokestack Charlie play classic raw, dirty Chicago blues. They feature Den Huibbe on vocals, Raffe Claes on guitar and vocals, blues harmonicist extraordinaire Geneviève Dartevelle, Robert Theys on drums and W***y Voordeckers on bass.

The Dry Riverbed Trio from The Netherlands play high energy kickass shows of passionate and authentic blues, country and rockabilly from the forties and fifties. They have supported The Paladins and Ian Siegel and released their first album Chained and Bound in February 2019. Led by guitar player/singer Dusty Ciggaar, with Darryl Ciggaar on vocals and drums and Ronald Tilgenkamp on acoustic bass.
