Weird World Champions / Balloon Art

Ik kreeg enkele maanden geleden een videoclip toegestuurd van een Japans TV station waarin de winnaar van de stage competition van deMillennium Jam 2015 -Kanagawa ,The Balloon Wizzard- in de spotlights werd gezet !
A few months ago , I received a tape from a Japanese TV station ,featuring the winner of the Stage Competition of TMJ-2015 , Kanagawa ,The Balloon Wizzard . Enjoy !
Il y a quelques mois , je recevais un vidéo d'une chaîne de Télé japonaise ; c'était un programme sur le formidable 'Balloon Wizzard' qui a gagné la compétition de scène au Millennium Jam 2015 !

Met ongeloof hebben wij het bericht gelezen dat Josef Reh het leven heeft gelaten in een auto-ongeval ! Hij was één van de mensen op wie je tijdens de Millennium Jam steevast kon rekenen ! Ook tijdens deze editie was Josef elke morgen in de Jam zaal , vroeger dan eender wie , om de ravage van de vorige avond op te ruimen! Daar kon je je leven op verwedden , Josef was er , elke ochtend , goed geluimd en monter ! Samen met zijn buddy uit Nederland Simon Jong - nog zo'n paar helpende handen waar je op kon rekenen - zorgde hij ervoor dat alle zalen er weer netjes bijlagen en de workshops op tijd konden beginnen ! Josef sprak geen engels maar de laatste woorden die de hij mij toesprak waren : " Millennium Jam 2016 .....I will come !" Of er volgend jaar een Millennium Jam zal zijn ,is nog niet beslist , Josef , maar wij zullen je in ieder geval missen ! Zonder twijfel zal jij ze daar boven wel aan het jammen krijgen en even zeker zal jij ervoor zorgen dat de jamzaal er elke dag netjes bijligt ! Rust in vrede , vriend !

With disbelief , we have read the message that Josef Reh has died in a car crash ! He was one of the people you could count on during each Millennium Jam ! Also this edition he was there every morning , before anybody else , to clean up the mess of the previous evening . You could bet your life on it : Josef was there , every morning , in a good mood and ready to go ! Together with his buddy from Holland Simon Jong -another pair of hands you could always count on - he made sure that the rooms were clean so the workshops could start on time ! Josef didn't speak english very well but his very last words to me were : "Millennium Jam in 2016.... I will come !" We don't know yet if there will be another Jam next year , Josef , but we will certainly miss you ! You will get your own Jam going up there in no time and , no doubt , you will see to it that the heavenly jam room is clean and tidy every morning ! Rest in peace ,my friend !

SHUTTLE SERVICE .....

The deadline for booking a shuttle is October 31st !!! Don't forget !!!
Here are one last time the general rules to follow !

To avoid the frequent and horrendous traffic jams , there is only a shuttle service from the train station in Antwerp-Berchem and the trainstation in Mol to Sunparks!
A.SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM TRAINSTATION ANTWERP-BERCHEM TO SUNPARKS : FEE €20 PP
a)arrival at airport Brussels National - Zaventem
-step 1: please send an email BEFORE 01/11 with your arrival info at the airport i.e. date,time,flightnumber and your portable phone number to our shuttle master Henk at [email protected] !
-step 2 : upon arrival go to the trainstation in the airport at level -1 ; buy a ticket to Antwerp-Berchem ; there are two trains every hour and the journey takes about 25 minutes !
-step 3 : approx. two hours after your arrival at the airport , a shuttle will be waiting for you at the trainstation in Antwerp-Berchem to take you to Sunparks !
b)arrival at airport Brussels South - Charleroi
-step 1: please send an email BEFORE 01/11 with your arrival info at the airport i.e. date,time,flightnumber and your portable phone number to our shuttle master Henk at [email protected] !
-step 2 : hop on the bus that takes you from the airport to Brussels-Midi Trainstation
-step 3 : in Brussels Midi Trainstation , take the train to Antwerp-Berchem ; the shuttle will be waiting for you to take you to Sunparks !
c)arrival at airport Eindfhoven
-step 1: please send an email BEFORE 01/11 with your arrival info at the airport i.e. date,time,flightnumber and your portable phone number to our shuttle master Henk at [email protected] !
-step 2 : a shuttle will be waiting for you by the time you come in the arrival hall !
d)arrival in Brussels-Midi Trainstation
-see step 3 under arrival in Brussels-South Charleroi
B.SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM TRAINSTATION MOL TO SUNPARKS : € 7 PP
You can easily travel to Mol by train ; it takes a bit longer but the scenery is nice !
When you arrive in the trainstation in Mol , please call shuttle master Henk at 0031-638099377
RETURN SHUTTLE : After the Jam , on Friday the 13th , a 50-seat bus will take all those in need of a shuttle to the trainstation Antwerp-Berchem in three journeys : at 06,00hrs , at 10,00hrs and at 14,00hrs ! So simple !!
Sound advise !
Please attach a balloon to your clothes or luggage to make identification easier ! No need to turn yourself into a Transformer or a Pirate of The Caribbean ; a simple balloon flower will do ,even a few uninflated balloons .....
The shuttle driver will carry a sign with the Millennium Jam logo printed on it !
Don’t hesitate to ask : most people understand and speak english well enough to help !
Always carry your phone with you and make sure it is activated so we can contact you . In case of delay or other calamity , use it and call shuttle master Henk !
Please wait in or near the cafeteria in the trainstation ; don’t go wandering outside or window shopping : the shuttle will not wait if you are not there at the estimated arrival time !
Of course ,like in all international airports and trainstations , pay attention and keep your stuff close to you ! These are the favourite playgrounds of pickpockets etc ....

Did we tell you that the adventure starts when you arrive in Belgium ..... Relax and Enjoy !!!

Wij hebben nog een allerlaatste naam , en niet van de minste, toegevoegd aan onze lijst van instructeurs !
Wallie de Groote ,één van de beste lesgevers van de Lage Landen met een enorm repertoire zal enkele workshops geven o.a. op zondag 8/11 . Hij zal vooral figuren met Quicklinks en Big Balloons laten zien ! Niet te missen !!
Last but certainly not least , we have added one more name to our list of instructors. Wallie , one of the best teachers of the Low Countries with a vast repertoire , will host a few workshops .The first ones will be on Sunday 8/11 ! He will show mainly balloon figures with Quick Links und Big Balloons , excellent for busking and line work ! Don't miss this one !!
Nous avons ajouté un dernier nom -et pas le moindre- à notre liste d'instructeurs. Wallie , un des meilleurs instructeurs des Pays Bas qui a aussi un répertoire énorme , donnera quelques workshops dont les premiers auront lieu le dimanche 8/11 ! A ne pas rater !

Tussen haakjes , het weze duidelijk dat ook de ongelukkigen die de Millennium Jam niet kunnen bijwonen , op zondag het CBA examen kunnen afleggen ! Je moet dus niet geregistreerd zijn voor de Jam , hoewel het natuurlijk de evidentie zelve is ...
Entre guillemets , il est évident que les malheureux qui ne pouront pas assister au Jam , peuvent passer l'examen CBA le dimanche matin ! Il faut donc pas s'enregistrer pour le Jam pour être admis à l'examen de CBA ! Biensûr , il est difficile à comprendre pourquoi vous le feriez pas ...

Op algemene aanvraag wordt er ook tijdens deze Millennium Jam een CBA examen georganiseerd en wel op ZONDAG 08/11 om 09,00hrs s'morgens ! Alle geinteresseerden dienen natuurllijk wel op tijd de vragenlijsten en jobcostformulieren op te sturen om het examen te mogen afleggen ! Dus gewoon doen !

Balloons are Art !
A BALLOON sculpture with a difference has been installed in London’s Covent Garden where the public will be able to view it for a month.

More than 70,000 white Qualatex balloons in all sizes, from five inch to three feet, are being used by renowned French artist Charles Pétillon to create his piece entitled Heartbeat in the 18th century glass-roofed market building.
A commercial photographer by profession, Charles has been using balloons as a form of artistic expression for several years and was delighted when Covent Garden commissioned him for his first public art installation which is open to the public from August 27 to September 27.
“I find balloons are universal; everyone knows and recognises them,” he said. “I like to express a deeper meaning with balloons.”
Charles chose Qualatex balloons for this installation, having previously discovered that their high quality and durability are ideal for long-lasting displays. A total of 20 people – including his core team from France, students from the Royal College of Art, and balloon professionals from London – helped inflate and install the 70,000 balloons.
Charles is pictured with the concept image of what the 54-metre-long installation will look like and added: “I always use white balloons for contrast and to express purity,” while pulsing lights within the balloon sculpture express the heartbeat, pulsating rhythm, and energy of Covent Garden as a symbolic representation of its history and cultural role as London’s first public square.
Balloon professionals will have another opportunity to help with a similar large-scale project later this year when the Amazing Maze build takes place in Belgium over November 3-7.
Held in conjunction with The Millennium Jam, Led by Didier Dvorak of Canniballoon, Switzerland, the project will feature thousands of Qualatex Quick Link Balloons and promises to transcend imaginations with its colossal size.

Addi 'Balloon Hat' Somekh will be coming to the Millennium Jam and he will not be coming alone : his band Unpoppable will come along! He will teach a few awesome Balloon Hat classes and on Sunday 8/11 he will be hosting a unique Master Class about 'Making Music with Balloons' , starting at 18.30hrs !!
After the Master Class the other bandmembers will join him on stage for a once-in-a-lifetime concert ! Ambiance till the early hours is guaranteed !!
