MOTHER'S DAY //

I would love to wish a very Happy Mother's day to all the women in the world who are a mom, a plus mom, an adoptive mom, to all the pregnant women, to the women who are a mom of an little angel in heaven,...Today it's mother's day for everyone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I became a mother for the first time 16,5 years ago and for the last time 3,5 years ago. Every day I feel so blessed being a mother of these four amazing children who I consider to be a miracle - isn't every child a miracle? - with his/her own special story, personality, character. I really love seeing them growing up, discovering the world and becoming the unique individuals with their own goal and purpose in life.

I'm not curious for the future as I'm slowing down and soaking up every minute that I'm spending with them now. I'm such a grateful and proud mother.

SLOW DOWN WEEKEND //

Someone once said "Slowing down is the best way to speeding up" and that is what I'm doing this weekend.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After running like crazy, traveling a lot and spending a lot of time away from home and from my wonderful family these last few weeks, I'm spending a lot of time at home this weekend surrounded by my husband and my amazing 4 children.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm slowing down and creating memories;
I'm cherishing these small and so precious moments in life;
I'm hugging my children moren than they probably want to be hugged;
I'm soaking up the vitamins of the sun & charging my batteries before switching up to a higher gear again for the next months as I know that a very intense few weeks are right around the corner.

I'm so thankful for these special moments, for my husband and for my children.

I have plans to change from an experience designer into a mom, a wife, a friend, to clean my house & do the laundry - I know...not the most exciting, adventurous and fancy things - to spend some much needed quality time with my family, to celebrate mothers day, to unwind and to charge my batteries before traveling from Spain to Belgium to Italy to France to ... and sleep in a million different beds.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARY //

A very happy 7th wedding anniversary to S&K who at the beginning of May 2016 got married in the breathtaking region of Puglia. I'm a bit too late, that's true, but I'm convinced that they are still celebrating their love every single day over and over again and that they still cherish every single moment of their unique wedding weekend.

I really can't believe that it's been 7 years since they said yes and since we traveled to a region that was on the edge of becoming one of the most popular Italian wedding regions.

In 2021 konden en mochten I&L onder een schroeiende zuiderse zon eindelijk JA zeggen. Ze werden omgeven door de typisch Toscaanse en door hen heel geliefde wijngaarden en door een prachtige rustgevende olijfgaard.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Op het einde van hun huwelijksweekend was hun dankbaarheid heel groot en dat is altijd zo gebleven. Ze blijven me volgen en blijven mij vanaf de zijlijn aanmoedigen in alles wat ik doe. Daarvoor ben ik hen nu zelf ook enorm dankbaar.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Een tip vanuit het hart van een gepassioneerde en heel betrokken ondernemer. Als je over iemand tevreden bent, als je merkt dat iemand zijn uiterste best gedaan heeft om jou de best experience ever te geven, als iemand all the way gaat en jou wensen in vervulling laat gaan, als iemand jou gelukkig maakt, laat het ook merken. Geef hem/haar een schouderklopje of een bemoedigend woordje. Wees positief en dankbaar. Schrijf een mooie review of stuur een kaartje op. Niet alleen op werkvlak, maar ook in de privésfeer. Iedereen kan af en toe wel eens een complimentje, een woord van dank, wat positiviteit gebruiken want niemand is een robot, niemand is vrij van emoties.

TO VEIL OR NOT TO VEIL //

Since I decided in 2019 to only organize destination weddings or better destination experiences I haven't seen that many veils anymore.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This bride decided to wear one on her wedding day in the Southwest of France. The lovely bride yesterday on the other hand didn't wear one but only covered her shoulders as they got married in a very special Sicilian church.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And what about me? I got married in Italy and also wore one on my wedding day, but there was a story attached to it...it was my mothers veil. Something old and beautiful in other words.

PRIMO MAGGIO - PRIMO BAGNO //

This is what the Italians always say...As of the first of May the weather is acceptable to go in the pool or the sea...BUT last Monday it was cold, rainy and windy in Umbria. So no primo bagno at all for anyone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are now traveling to Sicily. Let's hope that the primo bagno will be possible for the guests and that they can enjoy some pool time.

SIT BACK, RELAX AND ENJOY //

I always tell my couples to sit back, relax and enjoy the journey, from the beginning until their wedding weekend. A journey that should be fun, exciting, adventurous and of course stressless, which it always is.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As of next Thursday I'll be hearing this more than once every week as high season is taking off and I'll be traveling to Italy, Spain, France to create the most unique and unforgettable experiences.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For the next few months I'll be spending more time in airports, planes, rental cars and hotel rooms than at home. BUT most of my time will be spent in nature (which I adore), in spectacular locations and amongst couples and their guests who will be slowing down and spending some precious moments together.

I really can't wait to start creating these unforgettable experiences, to see people smiling and to take you with me on my amazing journey of season 2023!

It’s been a while since I’ve appeared here, so I figured I’d reintroduce myself!

My name is Helena and I’m an experience designer and destination wedding planner.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In 2005 I got married in Siena, Italy with my soulmate – no Italian – and that’s when my dreams started to grow.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are a family of six; two boys and two girls between 3 and 16 … yes, time flies and they grow up too fast!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started my business, Art’Anna Weddings & Events in 2012 when I finally decided to jump and to pursue my biggest passion. In 2020 I changed the name into Art’Anna Life Events & Experiences and launched the new website – not loudly enough – in 2022.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m passionate about travelling and discovering new cultures, but the country that has stolen my heart the most was, is and will always remain Italy. I speak the language and I know the culture, history and literature. That’s why I plan most of the unique experiences in Italy.

Oh and I hate cameras….even though I know I need pictures for my social media, I prefer to stay behind the scenes and watch my couples and their guests enjoying every single minute of their dream coming true. Photographers who traveled with me in the past are aware of this and just capture me when I’m busy doing what I love the most: being a styling, a coordinator, and a host.

NEW SEASON - NEW VENUES //

Last week I've been traveling through Emilia-Romagna, a region well known for its gastronomy- which Italian region isn't? - for its university, for its Formule 1 race circuit and yet still unknown for a lot of people...

When people think of Italy a lot and even most of them think of Tuscany which I absolutely understand. It's the region where I got married in 2005 and it's the region where I organised a lot of weddings last year and since the beginning of Art'Anna.

But when choosing your wedding venue, the place where you will create the most special and unforgettable memories during your wedding weekend, please don't forget that there are so many amazing regions and that each of them has so much beauty to offer.

ITALY, HERE I COME AGAIN //
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What will you be doing this weekend? I'll be packing my bags - well it'll be one small suitcase and a laptop bag - to travel to central Italy, to Emilia-Romagna, Umbria and Tuscany, where several weddings will take place this year.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'll be meeting the suppliers - florists, light & sound companies, caterers, rental companies - for the last time before high season takes off and I'll be visiting the venues for a final check so that I'm sure nothing has changed without telling me and everything will take place as planned.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It'll be an intense week but after all those meetings and visits the perfectionist and control freak in me - yes that's me as well - will be reassured and will be able to finalize every single wedding on schedule.

OLIVE GREEN //

The colour that brings me peace and balance.

The colour of the olive tree,
a tree that became very important to me,
a tree that changed
since I started to travel to and through Italy
and is still changing my life.

The colour that I use a lot in weddings
not because I force people to do so
- I never do -
but because my clients love this colour.
They love relaxing and slowing down.

VALENTINE'S DAY //

Truth about myself :

1. I love celebrating love but I don't love the whole business that involves Valentine's Day. We have never celebrated it in our 20 years of love and we will never celebrate it. Love has to be felt in your everyday life, in small things and not just this one. single day.

2. I want every human to feel loved by the people who surround him as love makes us feel alive, feel worthy, feel happy and gives us energy.

2. I don't like traditional red roses. My husband knows he never has to surprise me with a bouquet filled with red roses.

So on this Valentine's Day, on this International Day of Love, I'm adding a touch of red as a symbol of love and warmth, a smile as a symbol of happiness, a couple holding hands as a symbol of helping each other.

This weekend, I’m planning to finally and really spend some more quality time with my family, not only physically, but also mentally. I always tell my couples to slow down and to take care of themselves, to enjoy the journey, but as I've always been and probably will always be a people pleaser I tend to forget to do this myself too often and give all my energy to others.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want you to join me the next few months on my journey to more me-time, to more slowing down, to more slow life for myself, for my family and for my couples as this is one of the most important Art'Anna values. It still won't be the perfect journey, but let's make it imperfectly perfect.

NEW BEGINNINGS
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Saturday night we said goodbye to a year that has been the most intense, the craziest, the busiest, the hardest, the most rewarding since I've started Art'Anna more than 10 years ago.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The days, weeks and months flew by while I was flying from one country to another - ok, mostly Italy - where I brought families and friends together in the most unique places and where they created unforgettable memories that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I met amazing couples and their guests. I saw people being grateful for the special bounds they created and the heartwarming moments they experienced.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I laughed a lot and I cried enough - happy and unfortunately many sad tears - as it was not always happiness and sunshine - not the IG perfect picture - but there have been a lot of stressful situations, unforeseen circumstances, heath waves & thunderstorms, change of plans that needed a lot of creativity ... BTS moments that I should share more often with the world; the real life!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By the end of the wedding season I was terribly exhausted due to a lack of much needed sleep but at the same time I was so satisfied and proud of myself and my fantastic team.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And before I even realized there was a new fresh Christmas tree in my house, we were decorating it again and we were preparing for the holidays. That's when I knew that another year had gone by and that in 2023 things need to change by finding a much better work - life balance, by spending much more time with my children, by saying more often NO, by following my gut feeling and by prioritizing myself, my mind and my health.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Saturday it was time to say goodbye to 2022. We kissed, we hugged and we knew: it's going to be a different year!!!

TIME OFF - WINTERBREAK //
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
De volgende weken zal ik meer offline zijn, minder vlug e-mails beantwoorden en minder uren per dag werken. Live afspraken moeten even wachten want mijn gezin krijgt nu de absolute prioriteit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ik zou bijna willen zeggen dat ik de volgende weken met mijn gezin in een afgelegen chalet in een winter wonderland in Oostenrijk zal doorbrengen, maar dan vertel ik een halve waarheid. Dat ik bij mijn gezin zal zijn, dat is zeker waar en die momenten zal ik extra hard koesteren. Dat ik in Oostenrijk zal zijn...dat moet nog even wachten tot april voor onze wintervakantie in de zon.

De volgende weken staan volop in het teken van de Art'Anna waarden: samenzijn, tijd met het gezin en intens genieten, maar we blijven in België, in ons eigen huis dat een gezellige, warme en veilige thuis is voor ons allemaal. En net dat zijn mijn wensen voor jou en voor iedereen: verbondenheid, geborgenheid, gezelligheid en een warme thuis.

WINTER KiSSES AND WARM HUGS

Niets is heerlijker dan tijdens deze kille - in de VS ijskoude, bij ons uitgeregende - feestdagen samen met je geliefde, je gezin, je kinderen, je vrienden die familie geworden zijn te genieten van elkaar, van de verbondenheid, van het samenzijn, van de vriendschap en de liefde.

Geef elkaar warme, heel oprechte knuffels; pak elkaar vast en voel de liefde over je heen komen.

Kijk dan ook even om je heen, wees dankbaar en bedenk hoeveel geluk je hebt wanneer je omgeven bent door zoveel liefde.

I'M DREAMING OF...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
een witte Kerst zou heel leuk zijn, maar de kans dat het sneeuwt in ons bijna Mediterraans geworden België is miniem (zeker met het huidige weer). Dus laten we het over andere dromen hebben.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ik droom ervan om nog meer koppels een onbezorgd, onvergetelijk, hartverwarmend huwelijksweekend te bezorgen; een weekend omringd door de beste vrienden en hun familie op een prachtige plek waar iedereen tot rust kan komen en genieten. Een ervaring of experience om te koesteren.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Maar ik droom er ook van om meer tijd met mijn gezin en mijn vrienden door te brengen en samen met hen nog meer unieke, bijzonderen herinneringen te creëren. De jaren vliegen voorbij, de kinderen worden groter en beginnen geleidelijk aan hun vleugels uit te slaan en wij worden er niet jonger op. Ik raad iedereen aan om te genieten van de liefde, van het leven en van elkaar, maar dit jaar heeft me meer dan eens duidelijk gemaakt dat ik niet mag vergeten om dat zelf ook te doen.

Dus...ik ben klaar om dromen te realiseren, niet enkel die van anderen maar ook die van mij.

The magic of the mountains...​​​​​​​​

Toen ik deze week een videocall met een buitenlandse bruid had en een witte achtergrond bij haar zag en toen ik enkele sneeuwfoto's van mijn man uit Zuid-België ontving, besefte ik dat het hoog tijd is om jullie opnieuw warm te maken voor destination weddings in de sneeuw. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Hoewel ik het zelf altijd koud heb, zelfs al zit ik binnen, krijg ik het altijd warm bij de gedachte aan typische bergchalets, een knetterend haardvuur, zachte dekens, een tafel gedekt met winterse materialen, kaarsen en bloemen in warme donkere tinten. ​​​​​​​​

Dromen jullie van een huwelijksweekend in een magisch sneeuwlandschap? Ik neem jullie graag mee naar Oostenrijk en uiteraard naar mijn geliefde Italië - Noord-Italië weliswaar - waar jullie met een intiem gezelschap vrienden en familieleden de meest onvergetelijke herinneringen kunnen creëren en een prachtig en meer dan uniek weekend kunnen beleven. ​​​​​​​​

Wist je dat... //

…een religieus huwelijk in het buitenland ook mogelijk is? Veel bruidsparen gaan ervan uit dat ze in het buitenland enkel symbolisch kunnen trouwen, maar ook een kerkelijk én een burgerlijk huwelijk behoren tot de mogelijkheden. Uiteraard moet dit land per land en regio per regio bekeken worden en moet er aan een aantal voorwaarden voldaan worden, zoals het in orde brengen van het huwelijksdossier en de goedkeuring van verschillende partijen, maar indien dit jullie expliciete wens en droom is, dan is het heel belangrijk dat ik dit vanaf het begin van onze reis weet zodat ik hiermee rekening kan houden tijdens het zoeken naar jullie droomlocatie.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Heel soms bevindt er zich een kerk op de locatie, soms zoek ik in één van de omliggende dorpen en soms ligt de kerk op de top van een heuvel met een prachtig uitzicht over de omgeving, maar ieder kerkje heeft wel een verhaal en een priester die trots is op dat verhaal.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Toen ik enkele jaren geleden dit kerkje op een gemoedelijke Zuid-Italiaanse locatie bezocht heb, was ik meteen overtuigd van het unieke karakter. Het voldeed aan zoveel wensen: een gewijde kerk op een familiale locatie met een prachtig zicht over de zee! Ik geloofde het zelf bijna niet toen de eigenaars van de locatie mij vertelden dat buitenlandse huwelijken er toegelaten werden. Toen ik het verhaal en de droom van C&T hoorde, wist ik meteen dat dit hun locatie was.

Eind oktober 2019 is hun droom er in vervulling gegaan en hebben ze JA gezegd.
