Now that my feet have finally recovered I can share with you some of my favourite images from the New Years Day Junkanoo Parade. This year I opted to just use my primes sigma 35mm 1.4 for my wides, Sony 50mm 1.4 was the workhorse and, sigma 105 2.8 for close ups and details with my 24-70 as a backup in the event something was too wide for the 35.

Tell me what you think.

Just wanted to share a few of my favourite images from Boxing Day before the New Years Day Parade.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to collaborate with my good friends over at to photograph a new line they're working on. The models and the vibes were fire, but the weather was wet 🌧️😅. We made out ok though and got some awesome images.

I recently had the opportunity to provide headshots for one of my favourite primary school teachers. Mrs Hanna taught me back in grade 5 and now she's moving into a new administrative role at a new institution and wanted something to put on her office wall.

Paradise Plates is always a great opportunity to sample some great food for a cause while being creative with my lens. I really loved the decorations in the foyer and the lighting in the ballroom this year. It's always such a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.

Here are the ladies to participate in this year's Kinky Project.

With such beautiful submissions and a wide variety of hair types and textures the selection process for this year was really difficult for the team.
We even ended up going beyond the intended number .

I can't wait until we all get to make some magic.
Stay tuned to this page for future updates.

This week I wanted to share a few of the images I got from this year's first day back to school last week and share a quick photography lesson.
Minister Hanna-Martin personally thanked me for capturing the first image of a Willard Patton student running towards her for a hug. It's such a great moment. The expression on the Minister's face and the little girl running so fast that she's blurred. I'm glad I was able to capture it but I almost didn't.
Truth is I was still over at another classroom gathering details when they got to that class.

I hurried in a few steps behind them and just as I did she was off and running towards Minister Hanna-Martin.
I had just enough time to maneuver my camera towards them and spray and pray. Also my flash did not fire. 😅
Luckily though I was shooting in Raw+jpeg and was able to save what I got from the RAW data. I usually don't shoot raw for my daily work because of the file sizes but I'm so glad I did. Scroll to the end to see the original image.

I really love shooting the first day back. A lot of the kids are super excited to see their favourite teachers and administrators. Of course some aren't though lol.

Here's a lesson in not putting off for tomorrow what you can do today.

On the morning that I was to take these family/maternity photos I messaged to ask if she would want to switch until the day after because the weather was absolutely terrible.

We decided to keep the time but even as I was driving to the location the rain was still pouring but I was hoping for the best.

When I got there it was cloudy but the rain had stopped long enough for us to wipe off some surfaces and make the session happen. Just as we were taking the last few shots the rain came pouring down.
But we had made it and that very same night her baby boy came into the world.

If we had waited just one day we probably would've been doing a newborn session.

Hey guys. My apologies there was a slight error on my part. Several submissions were sent to my spam folder prior to the deadline and I only discovered them this week. Anyhoo here are the submissions for this years Kinky Project!

Thought I'd follow up last week's Goombay post with some of my pics from The Emancipation Day Junkanoo rush and share a little bit with you guys as well.

Recently I noticed that my style for shooting events has changed somewhat. I owe that largely to a new lens ;the sigma 35mm 1.4. Before I would use my 85mm ( more of a portrait lens) to grab really good close up shots of individuals in groups and separate them from the group almost in the photo.
The 35 allows me to stay relatively wide and that 1.4 aperture picks up every bit of available light and still manages to be sharp. I love it!!

My favourite part of this night was when the Saxons were getting started and made a fanfare of wade in the water (I think that was the song). It was a really powerful song to hear coming from their brass section. Awesome job guys!

I really really love these rush outs more almost more than I do the actual Junkanoo parades. There's just such a degree of freedom and just vibing to the music.

Also insta carousel appears to now allow up to 20 pics. Cool stuff.

I HAD to share these images from Bahamas Goombay Summer last Friday with y'all. The show featured truly great performances by all the artists. For me though the stand out was Johnny Cake jumping off stage into the crowd to lead them in a dance. The fire dancers were great as well.
Topping the evening off was a Rush out from Chambers Junkanoo production which is a combination of members from different A groups.

My favourite image from the night though is this first slide when one of Chippies Goombay Dancers invited this disabled girl to join in the dance. I couldn't help but think about how I probably would've skipped her out of fear of messing something up or causing injury. But he literally pressed forward on her chair to bring her in and look at the joy on her face! EPIC!!
