TASK FORCE VISITS JWANENG COVID-19 FACILITIES

The Presidential COVID-19 Task Force Team, led by the Coordinator, Dr Kereng Masupu visited the Jwaneng Town COVID-19 Facilities today (19 October, 2021).

The purpose of the visit was to assess the recent steady increase in new COVID-19 cases in the area for the last two weeks. During the visit, the team met with Deputy District Commissioner, DHMT Principal Admin Officer and leadership at Jwaneng Mine Hospital and also visited the two isolation facilities. A total of 44 people are currently in the two isolation facilities. This new development is concerning as it reverses the recent gains made in containment and control of COVID-19 in Botswana.

Dr Masupu emphasized that COVID-19 is still a threat and the nation needs to continue abiding by the set COVID-19 regulations and get vaccinated at the earliest opportunity. Vaccines save lives.
