The Obituary of Mrs. Hadie Dorothea Brown Gomez remarks on her many achievements in tennis in Belize. Ms Hadie is a tennis legend and trailblazer for women in sports. We are thankful for her life and contribution to the sport of tennis. May she Rest in Peace.🙏🏼

The 2024 Billy Musa Sr Tennis Championships concluded yesterday afternoon with both the bronze and gold medal matches. In the bronze medal match, Stefan Sosa, who had lost in the semifinals to Orlando Suarez with a score of 7-6, 6-4, faced Mike Sosa, who was defeated by Braulio Bautista 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinals on Saturday evening. Demonstrating resilience, Stefan recovered both mentally and physically, coming back strong on Sunday morning to decisively defeat Mike with a score of 6-1, 6-1. Meanwhile, the gold medal match posed a significant challenge for Orlando, who was still reeling from his intense semifinal the previous day. Braulio Bautista proved to be a formidable opponent, dominating the match and claiming the championship title with a decisive victory of 6-0, 6-1 over Orlando. Braulio's impressive performance has secured him his third consecutive victory of this tournament, showcasing his exceptional determination and consistency.

This morning at the Belize City Pickwick tennis courts, quarterfinal action was on display. The 8 quarterfinalists fought hard for their place in the semifinals, but of course only 4 can prevail and clinch a spot in the semifinals. Results are as follows:

The Belize Tennis Association expresses its sincere condolences to the family of Hadie Gomez on her passing. Ms. Gomez was an accomplished tennis player who won many singles and doubles titles in the 70’ and 80’s. Her contribution to the sport of tennis was stellar. May she rest in peace.🙏🏼

The National Women’s tournament sponsored by Denise Courtney and the National Men’s Tournament sponsored by Eric Eusey took place on August 9 and 10 at the Pickwick tennis courts. Samira Musa Pott emerged victor over Nazli Williams in the finals 6-2,6-2; and Stefan Sosa is champion once again emerging over Mike Sosa in the finals 6-1,6-4 defending his title. Congrats to all players who entered. Thanks to the committed sponsors who have been sponsoring this particular event for years.🙏🏼Encouraging all tennis players to keep Practicing and to sign up to

After an exhilarating weekend of tennis, the BTA congratulates the champions and runners up on their impressive performance.

In the men’s doubles Enrique Bautista/Braulio Bautista from Mexico were victorious against Jared Mena/ Richard Huang 7-5, 6-2.

In the women’s doubles Sofia Curup/Faviola Moran from Guatemala were victorious against Samira Musa-Pott/Khloe Musa 6-1, 6-4.
