Deija, a.k.a DJ Utastelesshoes is a Boston based breath of fresh air, breaking boundaries and channeling her true self through her own unconventional, open format approach. This tape exhibits her versality in selection and sound, with a vast range of blends. Deija’s DJ name embodies feelings towards anyone who disagrees with her multi-influence, open-minded philosophy - DJ Utastelesshoes.
Utastelesshoes’ journey is one inspired through family, with musical influences running deep. “In my family music has always been a form of expression. To us it’s so much more than what people see in the surface; to me it was taught that music is connected to the soul, it’s a form of uplifting happiness outside of self, it’s a form of ultimate expression”
With talent reinforced through love and support, Deija’s continuing this legacy through her distinct sound. You can find her matching moods, at local bars and events in and around NYC and Boston.
Going forward DJ Utastelesshoes hopes to continue to expand playing at festivals, photo shoots, radio sets, and eventually transition to music supervision of film. All whilst reciprocating support and spotlighting talented artists. “In the end it’s all about love and this is my form of uplifting/healing others through music” - a notion that really resonates with us Tala girls!
