Children’s Workshops Inspired by Mother’s Day ✨

DRIED FLORAL CRAFTS

Come create three wonderful handmade gifts including a Miniature Glass Frame with dried florals + a Handmade Card on seeded paper + and a Tea Bag for breakfast in bed.

FLOWER FROG + BOUQUET
May 10th 10:00-11:00 am
Make your very own polymer clay flower frog and take home bouquet! Children will learn about the special flowers we grow in our gardens, while also learning how to care for them. This will be a fun and exciting way to craft a beautiful bouquet just in time for Mother’s Day.

A little lightness on this dreary first day of April. Still plenty to do in the greenhouse today like dividing dahlias and hardening off some our annuals.

What is your favorite White Dahlia? 🤍

What we’ve grown in the past:

✨ Ferncliff Pearl
✨ Fleurel
✨ Cafe de Lait
✨ Caribbean Fantasy (fades to a beautiful opal white)
✨ White Collette Dahlia (from CanCan seed)

But Fleurel was NOT a great cut dahlia. Way too short and the blooms are so heavy that it was a floppy mess even with the best of support.

So what’s your favorite? And why should we grow it? 🤍

This is us, the Howes family. And we are so glad you are here.

What started out as a gardening magazine for Christmas in 2010 is now a 40 acre garden project in the making. But it’s work we are grateful for every day. We found what makes the hard not so hard, and the sweat a welcomed friend. It’s our refuge and comfort. And an absolute joy to share it with family and friends.

Here’s your reminder to cut back your peonies if your area has received its first hard frost. Cutting one inch above ground after a hard frost with keep your plant healthy and avoid rot. A fresh mulch of leaves on top is always welcome too.
