Christmas in the Heartland (CITH) was another great success at Brookville Hall this year!
Thank you to the staff from the Strathcona County Library Bookmobile, Joan and Murray Noble, and all the people from the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village and the Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society (Gordon Yaremchuk, Noreen Slater, Shelby Doucette and Isabelle Sheptak) for joining us for CITH at Brookville this year! With the stories and craft in the Bookmobile and the history and craft that the Cultural Village offered, along with all the delicious baking from the Nobles, everything was perfect that day.
We could not have served the perogy lunch without our dedicated kitchen staff. They have helped us out many times before and their hearts are so big to give the time required for all the prep work the day before and spending the entire day in the kitchen on the day of too. Thank you to Deb and Dan Doyle, Tony and Rose Vilcsak, Sophie Homeniuk, and Sharon and Garry MacDonald! The perogies and sausage were delicious, sending a shout-out to Widynowski’s Sausage House and Baba’s Own kitchen at St. Michael’s Healthcare Services for their great customer service again. It is a good feeling knowing that we can trust these two companies to handle those two very important food items!
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the musicians whose melodies added a touch of cultural richness to our Christmas event once again: George Paleniuk, Dwayne Kushniruk, Kevin Hachkowski, Brandon Hachkowski and Orest Pohoreski. The music started when the doors opened and they played until our last visitor left the building! Their exceptional talent and spirited performance truly elevated the festive atmosphere, leaving a lasting memory for everyone in attendance.
Thank you to our special ice carvers Tonya Gariepy and Ritchie Velthius who battled Mother Nature to create a frozen beaver on our deck that day. They named him BB for Brookville Beaver and he came complete with a Santa hat! Unfortunately, with the strange warm weather that showed up two days later, BB’s time at Brookville was cut very short…
Thank you to local chocolatier Louise at Choclination for the delicious handmade chocolate bars you created for our CITH event! The Merry Christmas stamp with the sprinkle of snow dusting was first class and how nicely the bars were all packaged was also very much appreciated. The smiles on the faces of those who received one were a wonderful addition to our successful event!
Strathcona County provided the funding for the ice sculptures at all Halls involved in CITH, along with other expenses such as the fireworks at the big wind-up event on Saturday night! Thank you, Strathcona County, for being involved and supporting the communities within our County! Thank you to the Josephburg Agricultural Society for organizing and inviting us to participate in this annual event.
We do have a few pictures available under our Christmas in the Heartland 2024 photo album on Facebook. Hoping nobody will mind seeing their faces on our social media but be sure to let us know if you do!
Signing off now and hoping that I haven’t missed anyone and that all names are spelled correctly too!
Sincerely,
Lisa and the Brookville Executive
