End of May!
This year we accomplished a few huge goals!
1st, we did not run out of flowers for Mother's Day. Every person who came to our farm stand looking for a bouquet got one! Every year we sell out & every year we try to grow enough to avoid this. After many years of trying, we finally did it! 💐
2nd, we are finally having success with Ranunculus & Anemones. This has been the hardest crop for me to grow & master. Although they could be better, bigger & more bountyful, I am taking the arm loads of blooms as a win!
3rd, we have more plants in the ground at the end of May than ever before! We have added 2 new gardens & although I have tons & tons of babies left to plant, I have thousands in the ground already 🎉
The season is just getting going & we are so pumped for all the blooms ahead 🌸

Mid May on the Farm...
When the leaves burst open,
The tulips are finished.
Ranunculus & Anemones start blooming!
We can finally start planting out thousands of seedlings we have nurtured in the basement since early March.
The workload is heavy & the days are long.
But we wouldn't have it any other way! 💖

Happy Mother's Day to all the mama's out there.
Dog mom, cat mom, human mom, heavenly mom. We love them all & appreciate all the things they have done for us.
I'm often asked when I will become a mom & honestly, I don't know if it's in the cards for me. Life is so full of the unknown. Why try to force it to fit into what you think it should be. I've learned to let go of the things you can't control & focus on the things that light you up. ☀️

Crocuses are starting to make an appearance, Robin's are singing & it smells like spring outside! 🐣

As March comes to an end & Easter is near, we are headed into April. The month of green growth, rainy days .. but also warm sunshine! ☀️

We are celebrating spring in our bouquets this week. Filled with P***y Willows, Tulips, Gerbera Daisy, Lisianthus, Iris & all kinds of Canadian Grown Blooms 💕💐🌷

Wreaths are a collection of local boxwood & cedar with dried flowers grown on our farm.

3 years ago, I quit my job to flower farm full time!
When I officially started my business back in 2015, the soul purpose was to grow flowers to give away.
Yes, that's right. I didn't want to make money. In fact, I wanted to invest every extra penny I had into the business just because I loved growing flowers.
Why, you ask.
Because flowers are powerful.
Seeing the joy fresh flowers brought to others had me hooked.
I remember the first time a dear customer insisted on ordering a $20 bouquet & paying for it. It was May. I hardly had anything blooming. That bouquet was full of lilacs, globe flower, greenery & anything I could find. Later, I found out she was disappointed with the bouquet because it didn't last long. I was gutted. I felt like a failure & wanted to give her money back. Instead, I used that hurt to learn everything I could about proper stage of harvest. That pain of knowing I disappointed someone drove me to dive deeper & provide a top quality product for my customers. Buying every book that mentioned flower farming, taking online courses & creating relationships with other farmers.
In those first few years, I knew I wanted to do this forever, so I better start treating this like a real business!
We are headed into year 9 of our journey.
We have provided flowers for over 250 weddings. Sold 1000's of mixed bouquets & created so many special relationships with other local business owners.
I wish I had this book when I first started. Let me tell you I do not have a business degree. I went to school for design. I've learned some very hard lessons, I've had to remake bridal bouquets, I've shed many tears over the plants I've killed & stupid mistakes I made when I knew better.
The biggest lesson I've learned is that no matter how much you try, you will never make everyone happy. But keep your head up & and focus on all the good. Keep trying your best & all your hard work will pay off.
