A farewell note from the studio //
Kym here. Been quiet here lately, as I’ve been wrapping my head around some big changes {it’s truly bittersweet}.
First, the bitter part: we’re closing the doors of the studio. Over the 3 years we’ve had the space, there’s been quite the evolution. Two months into our lease, the pandemic hit; our little comms agency was turned upside down as we – alongside our travel + hospitality clients – dealt with all that came with an industry falling to its knees. But we carried on – and converted Paper Road HQ into a sweet co-work spot.
And what a joy it’s been to see creatives + biz owners come together within our blush pink walls. We’ve been a home for local freelancers wanting to break out of the #wfh. They’ve become familiar faces, and dear friends. Co-workers from California, NY, Utah, Colorado, Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, checked-in as they passed through The Rockies. Creative agencies + brand teams came for planning sessions. We hosted happy hours around our studio bar cart.
But after a busy summer, came the fall - and the nearing end of our lease {leading me to the sweet bit}.
I’m going to step into the world of interior design. I plan to head to school full-time next year. This means putting an end to consulting {at least as I know it now}. It’s impossible to keep the studio when Paper Road no longer needs a HQ; the numbers just aren’t there to continue co-working as a standalone biz.
Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of the journey: to the clients {some of which we’ve worked with from Day 1}, the journalists who’ve picked up our emails, responded to pitches and attended our media events- whether in swimsuits or ski boots. To our team members, contractors, content creators; the creatives we’ve closely collab’d with. To dear Kye, our Studio Host, for taking care of the studio like it’s your own.

Yes, the studio is O P E N ! { .. just with a few small changes }
Guys, like many of our neighbours + fellow studio spaces, we are participating in the Alberta Restrictions Exemption Program. What this means for co-workers is that we too need to see photo ID + proof of vaccination {one dose accepted 'til October 25; two dose required afterwards}, proof of a -ve test result taken within 72 hours of your co-work date, or documentation of a medical exemption.
This can be simply emailed to us in advance of your desk reservation date: [email protected]
{ regular co-workers will only need to submit one time }
Masks are required to enter the studio + while not working at your desk. Kindness, respect, and consideration are also required in the studio at all times {but that's always the case here}. ;)
Big thanks to our amazing little co-work community, who've been cooperating so beautifully as we continue to navigate these waters together, and continue to get {sh}it done - safely + harmoniously.
