FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Barrie ON… A positive community driven, and u
nique initiative is simmering and will be celebrating Barrie’s foodies, restaurants, businesses, and the downtown core that we love. Poised to be the first official social event of the season after the lockdown, The Downtown Foodie Experience is an elegant and elevated private dinner party hosted by Phillip Moore, Dawn Mucci, Councillor Mike McCann, and supported by the Downtown BIA. The exclusive dinner features a live competition between local foodies and celebrities who will be serving up their best creations to help raise funds for the new Love Barrie Landmark sign. Three home chefs and their sous chefs will participate in a COOK-OFF for thirty exclusive ticket holders. Each creating a three-course meal for guests who will get to sample each dish. The event is being held at a top-secret location following all Simcoe Muskoka Health Units guidelines. Councillor Mike McCann will emcee the event featuring live entertainment, a support local vendor area, DJ and an after party. Guest will receive one vote and a celebrity chef will be on hand to oversee and award three votes to help determine the winning foodie team. Meals will be served by Barrie City councillors and other local dignitaries. Event creators Dawn Mucci and Phillip Moore were looking for a way to support the new Barrie landmark sign which is being fully funded by philanthropic efforts from the business community. The two friends have been long time “FOODIES” and have been battling it out on social media during the quarantine. “This is a way to safely bring people together after a long time apart and to show support for community. I felt we could all use some warm and fuzzies after what we have been through, said Mucci.”
“Having worked in the Food & Beverage Industry in the past as well as being a supporter of Mike McCann’s LOVE BARRIE sign, I think this is a great event to bring us back together and raise funds & awareness for two excellent causes,” said Moore. The goal is to raise $25,000 through tickets sales and sponsorships to support the sign and those dealing with the aftermath of the tornado.
