Let’s talk mental health!
After a crazy, unexpected incident, I decided to step away from Instagram, and focus on my 2023 events, 2024 clients, and family.
This reminded me the importance of checking in on everyone’s emotional well-being throughout the process. While they are often the most exciting days of our lives, weddings also are a huge emotional and financial investment, which can be super stressful.
It's easy to say "relax, just enjoy the process" but when you're putting this kind of time and money into a single day, that's easier said than done.
What's my best advice for managing the overwhelm? Step back, pause, breathe. It's easy to feel like we need to work or plan or post 24/7 to justify what we're doing or spending, but taking time to breathe, to dream and to reconnect with yourself is part of the process too.

What a beautiful way to start a Saturday - joining in the celebration of two lovely people who travelled across the globe to say “I Do!” under the falls. We travelled 150 feet down and through the tunnels out to the mist where this lovely couple said their vows in both English and Danish.
Such a sweet elopement, and a wonderful crowd who joined in to share their love. They were witnessed by the loveliest couple whom they had met through the . Just an awesome day of love, adventure, and friendship from around the world.

This is often a soft soft, especially when as we're moving into Mother's Day weekend. Even though it's a time of celebration for many, for some it's a reminder of relationships that look a little different than we may have hoped for.
Just like you are under no obligation to celebrate this weekend, you are under no obligation to hold a special role, have a special dance or even save a seat for someone who doesn't deserve that special place in your life.
And I know it can sting trying to navigate these choices. Your planner is your advocate, your cheerleader and your guide through the planning process. I love having a special moment for each of the parents, especially when it truly reflects your relationship.
A funny tidbit about my wedding: my mom gave a super sweet speech, and rocked it even though she doesn’t love public speaking. And then at the end called my husband by the wrong name. We still bug her about it to this day, and she still calls my husband Brian (it’s Byron) as a joke.
Here’s the thing: sometimes what we feel like at the time is a hiccup, ends up being one of our favourite memories!

I’ve always been a believer that weddings are an intimate reflection of who you are as a couple, and that trying to create a one-size-fits-all wedding just doesn’t work. Convention doesn’t always work, especially when it comes to love. I love weddings that are fun and quirky, and when I leave I want to say “That was SO them!”. They don’t always have to fit the regular ceremony, cocktail, reception formula either.
One wedding that sticks out to me was a celebration I attended as a guest a quite a few years ago where the couple was married in a private ceremony and then invited their guests to celebrate with mimosas and dim sum. At the time it was sweet and fun, and my first time having traditional dim sum, but over the years as I saw them more and more as a couple (and a couple of serious foodies) I think “Wow, they really couldn’t have done anything more perfect.”
So if you feel like you absolutely have to follow tradition, I’m here to tell you “Heck No!” follow your heart (or your tummy) and plan a wedding that fits your love.

Leading up to your wedding, we connect with your wedding party, vendors and venue to create a cohesive day of schedule, contact list and plan.

While weddings can often be sources of tremendous waste, there are so many steps you can to reduce your event’s carbon footprint. Even the smallest action makes a positive impact.
How can you green up your wedding?
Carbon Offset - Organizations like allow you to calculate your event’s carbon foot print and then reduce it by purchasing packages that offset up to 1/2 mT of carbon per guest.
Choose reusable options- Glassware that doubles as favours, decor that can be used at home, dresses that won’t get tossed after their first wear - the goal is to find as many ways to reduce anything that can’t be used again, or in the very least, resold. There are so many amazing ways to donate your dress too such as which it only allow you to donate your used dress, but make womdeful impact on your community too!
Buy local & in season - Purchasing locally made products means that they didn’t have to be shipped across the globe. Same with locally grown, in season flowers, which don’t require climate controlled shipping often from tropical locations. My personal favourites are and if you’re in the Niagara area!

Want to hear my BEST TIP for having your best furry friend as part of your wedding day?
Give them a best friend, or at least one for the day. With all of the hustle and bustle of the day, it’s super important to make sure that your pup’s care is assigned to one person and they’re in good hands. Don’t pick someone in the immediate family, or wedding party, but stick with someone you trust and more importantly, who your pooch trusts. This person is responsible for ensuring they are comfortable, happy and get home safe at the end of the day.
If you don’t feel comfortable, or want to ask anyone, you can actually hire a pro to hang with your pup during your ceremony, and then return them home and care for them for the night.
