Devon and Darraghs’ beautiful wedding celebrated at the Ark on Bowen Island ~ with close family and friends staying with them at this incredible Airbnb. Dinner was prepared and served by Boy with a Knife caterers. The weather was perfect. It poured and poured for days before ~ then the clouds parted. Must be the luck of the Irish! 🍀

McKenzie and Duran tied the knot at Crippen Park beach, overlooking the Union Steamship Marina and north shore mountains. It was a small wedding but with big heart ~ a wonderful celebration! Followed by a long table dinner at Tuscany.

The is us a few weeks back getting ready for a summer season of weddings here on Bowen Island. Started with a small wedding at Crippen Beach for Duran & McKenzie. A couple visiting Bowen for the day helped us with some of the set up and we were so grateful. Keith is a retired Canadian Naval Officer and he really knows his knots. He was our “life saver” 🛟😊

Tonight one of our clients is having a long table Italian dinner, prepared by one of our favourite local chefs ~ Jody Peak, Wild Northern Way (https://www.wildnorthernway.com). Each dish will be paired with a different Italian wines, chosen and presented by Park Heffelfinger. An epic Italian dinner that deserves some Mediterranean decor ~ sunflowers, fresh lemons, pots of fresh herbs, olive leaves, thick ceramic jugs and beautiful cut glass. Can't wait to see glam photos of the food Jody will be preparing.

Come join us for our Spring Hoedown. The first Bowen dance of the year! Need to get in some practice dance moves before the Dock Dance? This is the place to be! Saturday May 25th, IPS FIELD HOUSE. Your ticket includes a Southern BBQ of Montreal Smoked meat with traditional side dishes and a western bandana. There will be country games, photo booth, cash bar, line dancing demo, red ribbon cutting of the Colin Ruloff Field, farewell to Scott Herrington then dancing all night to music provided by DJ Yeshe. A farm to table experience on Bowen Island
I’m going to buy us some apple cider at the Bowen Cider House and sausages made by Erik Miller at his market plus some baked goods from Maureen Sawasy and lettuce & herb starters for our garden from Jody Pecks’ plant stand. So grateful to have this Meadowbrook “corner” in our neighborhood ~ it really is a place to buy local “farm to table” products.

It was a BUSY week at the new Bowen Island Community Health Centre! Ribbon cutting ceremony and tea on Wednesday, Gala Donor celebrations on Friday & Saturday and an Open House on Sunday!
Lots to celebrate! An amazing new health facility because of “millions” of donations by our local folk. A state of the art facility with great design. I had the help of many to make these events really special ~

The Bowen Cider House has 7 varieties of cider available and the Meadowbrook Market next door is full to the brim with all sorts of goodies ~ Moes’ Makes baked items and lots of butchered meats. Take a trip to Artisan Square ~ the Bowen Flower Shop and Cocoa West are open all weekend with everything spring, and yummy Easter chocolates. Find your self in the cove? Village Baker keeps turning out hot cross buns and the Ruddy has all sorts of groceries that will make a great Easter Supper! Chef Poyan brings tears of experywitj him and he has a number of chefs ready to make your next event a wonderful one! In acknowledgment of International Womens Day I want to thank Alessandra, a hard working BC Hydro “lineman” (that’s what she calls herself!), for helping to restore power to Bowen Island. A HUGE thank you Alessandra, and to her crew, for their Herculean efforts. They worked long hours in minus degree temps, often in the dark, for days, after a “freakish” snow storm this week wiped out power on the entire island and knocked down hundreds of trees.
