The days of planning, meetings, phone and zoom calls, sourcing and ordering, insurance and license renewals, the late nights and early morning kitchen shifts, learnings of regulations, emptying of our inboxes at nap times (IYKYK🫠), the loading of cars, travelling to venues, driving back and forth during events to feed little ones, unloading, cleaning, GFL runs, reorganizing…….repeat, repeat repeat.

We say this because it isn’t as simple as the pretty and delicious photographs make it look but my goodness are we HAPPY and having fun! This weekend has been our busiest since our launch in April 2021 and for all of the reasons listed above, we’re SO damn proud of ourselves💪🏼🫶

Their larger than life, wooden lawn games were available at a recent wedding on the property and were a huge hit with the guests. The hand crafted wooden selection of games created a fun and beautiful welcoming atmosphere for guests to play and interact!

Wishing a Happy Holidays to all of our wonderful supporters of Cheekye Ranch & SCCR!

Cheekye Ranch is home to Second Chance Cheekye Ranch (SCCR). SCCR is the heart of what we do! A place to home and rehome horses rescued from Canadian slaughterhouses and unfit homes.

This season has brought many difficulties from flash floods to extreme winter conditions. Many of these conditions have impacted the rescue horses and rescue horse program through as hay costs continue to rise and new shelters are needed.

Your kind donations and generosity in support of Second Chance Cheekye Ranch directly help the rescue horses.

Donations will receive a charitable donation tax receipt for 2021 (if donated by December 31, 2021). There is no better time than now to help out the ranch and animals and give them a second chance!

Today we acknowledge and remember.

As we commemorate those men and women who lost their lives in the Great Wars, we at SCCR are especially cognizant of the 8,000,000 horses, donkeys and mules that lost their lives in WW1 alone. It is impossible to estimate their death toll over the countless wars they have been dragged into since the dawn of human civilization - from Egypt, to Greece and Rome, and all through history our equine friends have fought and died along side us. The contribution and sacrifice horses have made for our human squabbles is immeasurable, and part of why we at SCCR are so committed to standing up for them now. We owe them that.

This last weekend Cheekye Ranch welcomed all volunteers for it’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Event with the help of local community support from

Our sister company SCCR is the heart and soul of Cheekye Ranch. There are currently 96 rescue horses on the property. SCCR is able to do the special work it does because of the incredible volunteer support received. We cannot thank all of the involved SCCR volunteers enough. Present and past volunteers, every effort shared has been received and appreciated. A sincere thank you to all!

It was a beautiful event to witness some of the warm and wonderful hearts of volunteers who could attend. Your generosity of heart is incredible!

A special thank you to the local community businesses who fed and nourished all who attended.
