The Rise Of Cricket At UTSC
Cricket has been played at UTSC for a long time now, and the UTSC Cricket Club has been at the UofT Scarborough Campus for over 18 years. The sport grew slowly and steadily within the campus. But it was never a sport that expanded beyond the campus. But in the recent years this was not the case, a change came in the sport of Cricket at UTSC.
The Club for the first time was able to form a team that played in the Ontario College Tape ball Tournament against teams from many universities and colleges in Ontario. And it was also able to create history at UTSC.
UTSC formed the first ever all Female Cricket Team, that went to play a Tri-Series between Laurier and Ryerson hosted at TPASC by UCC. Despite the female team playing for the first time they were successful to triumph in the tournament and become the first ever victors of an all female cricket Tri-series. This was the first Female Cricket Team in all of UofT.
The Tri-Series became such a great success that the Club was able to host it again in 2019 and invite Ryerson and York to come play at TPASC at the Tri-series. UTSC again for the second time in the row in this tournament went undefeated. And, won the championship.
