One of the biggest decisions when planning your floral preservation is choosing between pressed or 3D flowers. With both options, the flowers will turn into a beautiful keepsake that you will be able to cherish for years to come. The visual of the preserved flowers in a personal preference that is typically influenced by the style of your home and what would match your aesthetics better. In this post, we are going to outline the difference between the two methods.

3D Flowers
-3D preserved flowers have depth and dimension. They are either dried in silica or hung dried over an extended period.
-This method of preservation is when the flowers look the closest in appearance to when they were fresh.
-With 3D flowers, we can make a shadow box frame or any resin pieces with depth.

Pressed Flowers
- The flowers are pressed flat, and when preserved, they appear paper thin. Pressed flowers are often preserved by pressing each petal individually then reconstructing the flowers so the outcome is more artistic.
-Pressed flowers are used in picture and float frames, or any resin with not much depth, such as coasters or trays.
-Longest preservation method. Pressed flowers take 6 to 8 weeks in the press with doing paper changes every few days to keep the blooms dry and happy.

With both methods of preservation, the flowers may change in colour from fresh to being preserved. Often with wedding floral preservation, we do a hybrid of both preserving in silica and pressing some flower. It is important that we confirm your preservation ordee before we receive the bouquets so we can preserve it accordingly.

I know we have been quiet on our social media pages lately, but Sarah has had her hands full with this bundle of joy, and Katie has been working hard behind the scenes. Posting to our social media is often one of the last things on our priority list, but we are so excited to get into the groove of posting on the regular again.

We wanted to hop on here and say how grateful we are for our wonderful clients. The last half of this year has been a whirlwind of flowers, and we appreciate the patience from each and every one of you. Thank you for supporting our business by following along on our journey. We are taking a much needed break from production and answering emails until January 2nd. We can't wait to come back refreshed and ready to work.

Jackies pressed frame. This gorgeous 16x20 frame made its way home a few weeks back.

16x20 is such a nice size for pressed wedding bouquets and can fit a large portion of most standard bridal bouquets.

This summer, we are so proud to say we have received and are preserving 25 GORGEOUS bouquets. We are so grateful for all our wonderful clients who trust us to preserve their sentimental flowers. We have been booked up, and the presses have been full or close to full for most of the summer. This fall, we only have a couple of bookings so far. If you or someone you know is getting married in the next few months, we would love to preserve the flowers!

Here is a little summer recap of what we have been up to:
1 - September Availability 🍂
2 - At the tattoo convention
3 - All of our presses full! To do a paper change on the presses when they are all full takes 3 to 4 hours.

Small memorial frame we completed recently. There were a limited number of flowers to work with, but we love how they framed the photo of our customer and his grandma.

Floral preservation is not just for the big moments in life like weddings. Both of our parents help with this floral preservation business when they can. Our dad goes out to the farm that we grew up on usually weekly in the summer months, eithee to pick up firewood or give a helping hand to our family that runs the farm now. A few weeks back, when he came home from the farm with a pail of wildflowers, he told me about how he used to pick tiger lily’s for his mom. Our grandma was a tough love but soft at heart type of person. It was probably the fact that she had 9 kids that she had to be on the stern side. We lived on the same farm as our grandma when we were growing up, and she loved flowers and gardening. I often think that it was her that instilled the love of flowers into Sarah and me. Our grandma passed away in 2020, but I can still feel her presence in flowers and nature.

When my dad brought back those flowers for me to preserve and fondly reminisced how he would give tiger lily’s to his mom, I knew I was going to make him something from those tiger lily’s. I thought a keychain would be the best option because he can carry it with him as a reminder of his mom. It warmed my heart to see how happy he was to receive this special keychain. Floral preservation is not just for the big moments in life but also the small moments that hold big meaning 🏵🧡

A fun and challenging project we completed a couple of weeks ago.

Megan reached out and asked if we would be able to make a small pressed frame in the shapes of her childrens hand and footprints. This was way more challenging than we predicted 😅 working with so many small petals and flowers was truly a labor of love but we are SO happy with how it turned out and would definitely take on a project like this again.

We will be set up in the vendor market for the entire weekend! We're bringing a great selection of stock products and our smiling faces into the city. We look forward to meeting new customers and seeing some returning ones!
