The Pro Series - Cathy Wood
--Features a new work written for recent BU alum, Cole Ediger who died suddenly last
year. Written by BU alum, Christopher Byman who went to BU with Cole (close friends
and work colleagues at St. John’s Music). Cole studied with Tori Sparks (and Eric
Platz).
Sparks and Wood will also perform Into Dreams by BU grad Kenley Kristofferson.
The concert also features BU faculty Leanne Zacharias in a clarinet/cello duet by Syrian
composer and clarinetist Kinen Azmeh. The work is about searching for memories from
home and random memories of people from the past.
All works focus on memories of people(loved ones)/home.
BU The Pro Series - Aaron Wilson
This concert curated by Dr. Aaron Wilson features Sarah Belle Reid, Brendon Ehinger, and Aaron Wilson himself.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for most musicians. With live performances largely being confined to carefully controlled online experiences, most musicians have been largely relegated to practicing their craft privately. All pieces presented in this concert are somewhat a result of it.
Brandon University New Music Ensemble and Any Enemy - Project Lockdown Composing & Performing
"Project Lockdown Composing & Performing explores the challenges, opportunities and complexities of creating new compositions for online performance by musicians in geographically separated locations. The Brandon University New Music Ensemble & Festival are excited to collaborate on Project Lockdown with Sound Scotland Festival and composer Pete Stollery of the University of Aberdeen to co-commission and perform new works by Scottish and Canadian composers Ollie Hawker, Pete Stollery, Keith Hamel, Michael Ducharme and Melody McKiver. Learning new ways to collaborate, listen and perform online simultaneously in two countries positions our musicians to be inventive and strong."
