Christmas Day marks the anniversary of the first event held at Yeoford Hall, built in 1922. Sitting at the corner of Range Road 31 and Township Road 470, this quaint hall was once an essential part of the Yeoford and K**b Hill communities.
Before the survey crews worked their way through the area in 1904, roads were no more than trails; the local Indigenous People used them to travel between Pigeon, Battle, and Buck Lakes. But once that land was open for homesteading, settlers from many parts of the world began pouring into the area.
The original site of Yeoford was on the Battle Lake Trail two miles southeast of where it stands now. In 1910, it had a post office and a store. Six miles farther along the trail was K**b Hill, which by 1912 also had a store and post office.
With so many families in the area, a community hall soon became necessary. After many heated debates, residents finally decided that a hall would be built at K**b Hill. Local sawmill owner Sanford Nelson donated the use of his mill, and on Christmas Day 1922, the first community gathering was held at the brand-new K**b Hill Public Hall.
