Let’s talk cake cutting…
Way back to the Victorian era, the cake was referred to as the brides cake, all white just like her dress. Not only a social social status. The bride would cut and serve the cake to guests which represented fertility. As wedding sizes grew the groom needed to help hand out all that cake and whilst brings us to what you see today, with one partners hand over the other as they make the first cut- a showing of the promise they’ve made and a first task as a married couple.
While many out there stand on the hill of letting this tradition die, I will always be pro do whatever you want. It’s your wedding! If you want to cut that cake you damn well go for it. Don’t love cake, have your favourite desserts, eat a donut, have some pie. It’s truly your day and you should do what feels right for you.
Now if you are going to cut your cake- please have a good knife. There are many nice sturdy ones out there. Especially if you have a fondant cake from us, your cake will be finished in ganache before applying your fondant. Why? Because structure on the rising summer heat is everything 💕
