Welcome to another post of , with summer coming to an end and fall being just around the corner, here is our special item of the day:
Squash.. sweet and beautiful squash 🥴
Here are some fun/ Interesting facts that you may not know about them:
🟠 There are two different types of squash: summer and winter squash. Summer squash, like zucchini or pattypan squash, have thin skins and can be eaten whole -- skin, seeds, and all. Winter squash like pumpkin and butternut squash have robust skins that aren't usually edible.
🟠Squash and melons are related. Did you know that both summer and winter squashes are related to melons like honeydew and watermelon?
🟠Butternut squashes (and most orange squashes) are loaded with vitamin A. A single cup provides more vitamin A than most people need in a day (457% of the daily value, to be exact).
🟠Most winter squash have long shelf lives and can last in a cool, dry place for weeks or even months!! ( Perfect for that fall squash pie )
🟠 Squash may have been domesticated as early as 7000 to 5000 BC in the Tehuacan Valley of Mexico. 🇲🇽
🟠Summer squash is a very good source of dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, riboflavin, vitamin B6, folate, magnesium, potassium, and manganese and a good source of protein, vitamin A, thiamin, niacin, phosphorus, and copper.
🟠The health benefits of summer squash include improved digestion, slows down aging, lowers blood sugar levels, supports healthy circulation and a healthy heart, improves eye health, boosts energy, benefits for weight loss, improves thyroid and adrenal functions, protects against oxidation and inflammation.
