PSA for FALL 2022 brides, book your alterations fittings ASAP! Peak wedding season is in full swing! I currently have 26 bridal dresses at hand needing alterations, 5 more (& counting) coming in next week for first fittings! Yes I’m okay but also no 😆Things to keep in mind for alterations: (1.) Book at least 2-3 months before your wedding date to give you more than enough time for multiple fittings and unforeseen circumstances! (2.) Make sure to have your shoes and any undergarments you are wearing on the wedding day with you for every fitting, it makes a huge difference! (3.) Why does wedding alterations cost so much when you’re only doing 1 thing? In the case of this dress – taking it in at the sides. What some people don’t realize is doing that 1 thing takes multiple steps and hours and hours of detailed work! For the dress in the video, we had to: (1.) Carefully remove the beading and lace (2.) Flip the dress inside out (3.) Take in the lining layers, satin layer, sequin layer and mesh layer (and repeat on the other side) (4.) Sew back the boning (5.) Sew all the layers back together at the armhole and waist (repeat 3 more times for lining layer and other side) (6.) Hand-sew the lace back on (7.) Hand-sew the beads back on.
