I Am Spruce Meadows - Rodrigo Pessoa

Superstar show jumper Rodrigo Pessoa shares his favourite memories in this latest edition of ‘I Am Spruce Meadows’. The Olympic gold medalist and eight-time Olympic competitor first joined us here in 1987, as a spectator, before his first Spruce Meadows competition in 1992. He has since gone on to win many accolades, including: 🥇 Winning the individual gold medal at the Olympics and two team bronze medals in jumping 🏆 Becoming a World Champion, taking gold at the World Championships 3️⃣ Claiming victory as a three-time winner of the World Cup Finals 2️⃣ Being one of only two riders to win back-to-back 'International' Grand Prix on the same horse (2000, 2001 on Gandini Lianos) 🇮🇪 Rodrigo's father, Nelson Pessoa, is also a celebrated international rider who competed at Spruce Meadows in its early days. Rodrigo, a Brazilian, was appointed Chef d'Équipe for the Irish national show jumping team from 2017 to 2019.
