We create a beautiful tablescape complete with linens, centerpieces and vintage china and centerpieces on your table. And we offer a selection of small batch blended teas for tea tastings. Darjeeling tea is often called the ‘Champagne of Teas’ because of its light, aromatic flavour. 🥂

The history of Darjeeling tea began in the mid-1800s when the British planted tea seeds in the region. 🍃

Darjeeling tea quickly became known for its quality and became a major export for the British. 🫖

The Tea Board of India regulates and promotes Darjeeling tea internationally. 🇮🇳

In 2011, the European Commission gave Darjeeling tea a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) tag, the first such commodity from India. 🤓

Many estates have acquired organic, biodynamic, and Fairtrade certifications. 🤝

Legend has it that tea was first discovered in China in 2737 BCE by Emperor Shen Nong, when a leaf blew into a pot of boiling water! 🍃

Did you know??

Proper tea stirring etiquette involves moving the spoon back and forth in a folding motion, rather than in a circle. You should also avoid making any noise while stirring. 🤫

How to stir tea ☕️

Place the spoon at the 12 o’clock position in the cup
Gently move the spoon back and forth to the 6 o’clock position
Repeat 2–3 times
Place the spoon on the saucer to the right of the cup

Other tea etiquette tips 🌹

Don’t tap the spoon on the cup to remove drips
Add milk to the cup after the tea, not before
Sip quietly and don’t slurp
Use sugar cubes and sugar tongs
Keep the saucer on the table, unless you’re standing or don’t have a table
Look into your cup while drinking, instead of looking around the room

I am definitely a “look around the room while sipping person!” 😬

Royal Albert - Forget Me Not 💙

Today, when I reached into my cupboard for a teacup, I chose this pattern. It’s seemed to fit the day. 🕊️

One of the best parts about a tea party is seeing all the different patterns in the collection. 💐

I get a little thrill each time I spot a new one or even when I’m packing china for a clients event and find the perfect set that I know will match the vision. 🌹

💐It’s Almost Time For Tea With “Mom” 💐

Most of my personal teacups and teapots were inherited from my Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. 🌹

I know that my Great Grandma used these items everyday, then, for whatever reason, by the time my Mom had them, they became decorations. Sitting in the china cabinet, behind glass, cherished, never used. 🕊️

My Mom was almost aghast when she realized I had no intention of hiding these beautiful pieces of our shared family history away and I was going to use them, frequently. She quickly had a change of heart as she watched the joy in my daughters eyes as they enjoyed sips of cream tea from the dainty cups and showed such pride as they poured another cup from the precious pot 🥰

This is why I’m a firm believer in “using the good china”. 🫖

Except for this one Teapot. I don’t know the story behind it, Google Lens can’t seem to find it, but it’s always been a focal point throughout my lifetime in every generations China cabinet. 💙

Tea Time Transition A New Year, a perfect time to transition to a new version of The Travelling Teacups. Let’s share a cup of tea together, indulging me in a long-winded & melancholy post. In Jan 2017, while laid up with a broken ankle, I recalled a business idea my daughter had brought back from Australia - a mobile afternoon tea company! I instantly thought of my good friend & afternoon tea partner, Karen, to ask her if she would be interested in this new venture together & she surprised me with an instantaneous YES! We looked forward to an endeavor that would bring joy to others through our tea parties from showers, to an opening night of a theater production & a 300 person tea party for a celebration of life - while we were both away at Karen’s son’s wedding! With a pilot & a lawyer at the helm the event ran smoothly! We forged working relationships with amazing chefs & tea blenders who ensured our offerings were always 1st rate. When the Pandemic hit, the Takeaway Tea was born. A tea party in a box was launched on Mother’s Day 2020. Karen & I had a lot of fun developing themes like tea treats from different parts of the world, so we could travel virtually. By 2021 our Mother’s Day orders filled a church hall. People were eager to host tea parties when things opened up. But in Jan 2023 the unthinkable happened- Karen suddenly passed away. While grieving Karen’s loss I later resumed operations to honor her & our shared vision. Her unique skill set left a big hole to navigate though. I want to thank everyone who helped me the past 2 years, I was never “alone”. Firstly my husband, for his emotional & physical help, my son, with order pickups & daughters, Karen’s husband & family, friends, Les who supported with whatever was needed, & my sisters-in-law, who all pitched in. Thanks to all of you for your enthusiasm over our tablescapes, tea & treats. 💕 The time has come however, for someone new to take over the reins, with
