🍪New Volunteer Opportunity🍪

Do you love the holiday season and decorating cookies? Come volunteer with Made by Momma at the Cookie Kitchen!

Made by Momma is thrilled to have the opportunity to organize the Cookie Kitchen at Southcentre Mall! And we’re going to need lots of holiday elves to help make it a huge success.

Our goal is to raise $20,000, which will provide 8,190 lbs of Holiday Food Hampers for vulnerable families in the community.

Volunteers are needed to hand out cookie kits for guests to decorate on-site or at home in exchange for a donation to Made by Momma.

Do you have a couple hours to spare to help make this unique family-friendly fundraiser extra special?

Youth age 12 and older may volunteer in the same shift with a parent or guardian.

Sign up today for a daytime, evening or weekend shift! Volunteers are needed from November 15th through December 24th, with the greatest need in November.

Good morning,
Here is some important information from the City of Calgary!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The City and developers each pay for a portion of off-site infrastructure in new communities. This helps pay for new infrastructure needed to build complete communities and provides the developer with the necessary infrastructure to move forward with constructing a community!

The City of Calgary periodically reviews and updates the Off-site Levies Bylaw to ensure the bylaw and off-site levy charges are current. Off-Site Levies accommodate to the Calgary’s infrastructure needs and costs, and responds to changes in the economy and pace of development.

Through the review process The City has changed the way they calculate off-site levy rates. New calculations have been used to generate off-site levy rates for 2024. Your feedback is needed on the new calculation and draft off-site levy rates! Here’s how you can participate:

Thanks to a generous grant from KidSport and the Alberta Government, McKnight Hockey Association is able to host a free program we have called Intro to Hockey.

This program is aimed at children who have little to no experience playing hockey. We will be offering 2 hour sessions, divided into age categories based on number of registrations – U7, U9, U11, U13, U15/U18. Each session will contain:

-30 mins of off ice warm up (in the gym).
-30 mins to change into protective equipment and skates.
-60 mins of on ice instruction
– provided by long standing McKnight Hockey Coaches.

In our program we will focus on basic skills including skating forward, stopping and shooting. If ability permits we will have a mini scrimmage towards the end of the ice time.

Once registered you will receive an email with confirmation on the time slot your player has been assigned to.

All participants at a minimum must wear skates, helmet (no bicycle helmets) and gloves/hand protection, full hockey equipment is recommended but not required. If the participant does not come with the minimum equipment, then they will not be permitted on the ice.

A team of McKnight Hockey volunteers will on site for the duration of the program to answer your questions about Hockey programs here in Calgary!

Any questions can be sent to Andrea at [email protected]

A guide on how to book your public swim tickets this summer!

06/17/2023

🔎 NEED TO IDENTIFY 🔍

We are asking for the public’s help to identify a vehicle believed to be involved in a hit-&-run that took place in the northwest earlier this week.

📍 On Monday, June 12, 2023, at approximately 12:05 p.m., a 61-year-old woman was struck at the intersection of Fourth Street & Northmount Drive N.W.

At the time, it is believed a vehicle described as a light-coloured Jeep Wrangler was travelling southbound on Fourth Street N.W. & proceeded to make a right turn onto westbound Northmount Drive N.W.

At the same time, the victim is believed to have been walking in a marked crosswalk when she was struck.

The driver of the Jeep, a man in his 30s, exited his vehicle, walked up to the woman & advised witnesses on scene he would call 9-1-1. He instead ran back to the vehicle & drove away.

The woman sustained serious injuries & was transported to hospital.

We continue to investigate & are asking witnesses or anyone who may have information about the incident or the Jeep.
