In ancient Mesopotamia, beer was often used as a form of currency, with workers were often paid for their labour in beer. 💸🍻This tablet shown is actually one of the world's oldest receipts – highlighting workers' daily rations of barley beer in 3100-3000 BCE.

Typically, records indicate that unskilled labourers in Mesopotamia received around 1-2 litres of beer per day as part of their wages. Skilled workers might have received more.

While we Canadians and Americans are accustomed to leaving milk and cookies for Santa, many countries take an approach that’s right up our alley. 🍺

Here are some beer-centric holiday traditions:

🇦🇺 Australia: Kids still leave Santa cookies… and a beer. (It’s hot down under!)
🇮🇪 Ireland: Some families leave a pint of Guinness (obviously)

Police officers in Ontario seized 326 cases of beer purchased in Quebec that were meant to be served at a wedding. 👰🍺

As per CTV News, Officers with the Lennox and Addington County OPP responded to a call for a traffic hazard on Hwy. 401 at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

The catch? The beer wasn't sourced from a legit Ontario liquor store. The LCBO wants us to remember that Ontarians can bring booze from another province, but it's strictly for personal enjoyment, not for trying to start your own beer empire.

So, next time you're planning a big ol beer transport, remember to check the local rules – you might show up at the wedding high and dry! 👮

Beer companies are notorious for releasing iconic ads. Molson’s I am Canadian ad, anyone? 👀 That being said, some of the beer ads from the last century were pretty unhinged. Here are some of the craziest we found – which one do you think is the worst? 😅

1. Blatz Beer, 1917
Ahh, the early 1900’s. When beer was for everyone – even babies, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

2. Fro Malt, 1958
Ms. Norris probably could use a malt – but not for the reasons listed.

3. Slosh Beer, 1961
I mean… maybe this ones okay.

4. Olands Export Ale, 1966
Keepin' it classy, since 1966.

5. Schlitz, 1952
The imperfect modern woman sometimes burns her meatloaf, and that’s okay.
