The way Paige & Liam look at each other 👀

They planned a date night and just hung out together drinking champagne and watching the sunset while I - the third wheel - got to capture their fun, playful sides.

I think many people are nervous to be in front of a camera and feel ‘natural’. It helps when you’re not in front of hundreds of people. Although there are few places to do Engagement Photos in Victoria at sunset without a crowd, I’ve got a few gems up my sleeve like this one.

PRO TIP: If your love language is Quality Time, let’s build this into your timeline.

In my initial call with couples, I like to get to know them and their wedding day vision.

One of the questions I always ask is what their love language is. If it’s quality time, I make sure we dip out for 20 - 30 minutes so they can just BE together - after hours upon hours of getting ready, celebrating, talking to family & guests, it's nice to sneak away.

I took these two for a breather at sunset. Some much needed one on one time + it made for some pretty great photos

If you have a big Wedding Party, this is guaranteed to make the day move smoother:

Plan group photos BEFORE the ceremony!

I ask couples what moments they want to remember 20 years down the line. For these two, some of those things were getting ready with their best friends, the father of the bride's first reaction, the groom's first look, and a whole lot of fun with their wedding party - the friends that mean everything to them.

Because this was all done prior to the ceremony, they didn't have to feel rushed after. They could spend time celebrating, visiting guests, soaking up the congratulations, and taking photos with family.

Have you thought of having some of your photos before the ceremony?

Give me your thoughts on this below! I know having a 'First Look' is a common debate.

"I want to remember the day, I don't want to look back and think 'oh my goodness I was so stressed.' I want to enjoy the full day and feel like I had time with each guest"

These two knew what they wanted, and they hired a dream team to make it happen! A stunning venue with ocean views thanks to , a no-stress timeline that gave them plenty of time with their loved ones thanks to  (who also had margaritas at the ready all evening!), and beautiful details thanks to all the other vendors!

Proposals are intense, especially if you don't know what you're doing.

People always wonder..

➡️ How do I make sure it stays a surprise?

➡️ What do I say to get everyone to the perfect location? At the perfect time?

➡️ How do I make sure the outfit of choice will be one they want to look back on for years to come?

➡️ And for me as the photographer, how do I not tip them off?

Adrian looped in his soon-to-be sister-in-law to help him plan an epic proposal on Jocelyn Hill. They were vacationing in BC and wanted a proposal worthy of a great story.

I love being involved in the process, I want to help in every way I can!

I gave plenty of location ideas, tips, tricks, you name it so that Adrian & his whole family got in on OPERATION PROPOSAL 🕵️!

They told her that they were going to a beautiful restaurant at the top of the hill and to dress up for it, even though they were hiking to get there so they could take in the view along the way 😂

I dressed in my “tourist” attire so I wouldn’t stand out and ruin the surprise. I arranged to stay as hidden as possible until he gave me the cue.

I think Adrian nailed it - the look on her face says it all. The family was so stoked and everyone was hugging and congratulating them after.

If you are nervous about a surprise proposal, I’ve got you! I’ll help you pick a perfect location, at the best time, somewhere less busy, with a romantic backdrop of your choosing and I’ll coach you on how we can get it all on film in a way that genuinely captures all the raw, natural emotions.

The classic ‘we’re not sure how to act in front of a camera’

These two wanted their photos to feel candid, but haven’t had a lot of experience taking photos like this. My job is to make this happen, it’s to keep people comfortable, happy, and engaged with each other.

Angela also wanted those ‘cotton candy’ skies as the backdrop for this Engagement shoot. The sunset at Saratoga Beach did not disappoint (and never does). Golden hour 🤝 Blue hour. What a combo.

You might be wondering, ‘how does a photographer get people to feel so comfortable?’

I want to capture that fun, playful side so I tell couples this should feel like a date night. The only difference is me, the third wheel, giving you plenty of guidance and movement so you focus only on each other, not the camera.

I believe that the way you feel during your photoshoot is the way you should feel every time you look back at the photos! I ditch the “posed” look (unless that’s what you’re looking for) - but my main goal is real, raw emotions. I’m confident in the work and experience I provide, and always have fun!

Are you team Golden Hour or Blue Hour Cotton Candy?

Listen up if you are planning to get married one day! ⬇️

I’m spilling the tea on my BIGGEST frustration with the wedding industry!

FRUSTRATION: Couples plan their wedding based on what they ASSUME they need, instead of deciding how they want their day to FEEL.

MY SOLUTION: Plan around what is most important to YOU first, instead of the details - this way, all the other decisions will be so much clearer!

Some questions to ask yourselves:

✅ How much time do we want with each guest?

✅ Do we want the vibe to be fun/exciting or connected/relaxing?

✅ Where & when do we feel the happiest? How can we incorporate this on our wedding day?

✅ Do we want our wedding to be one day? Would a full weekend be better?

✅ What do we love (or hate!) when we attend weddings?

This is just a sample of the questions included in my FREE Date Night Challenge for Engaged Couples! This is for people who want to soak up their Engagement, not just spend it stressed out planning.

The best part? 10 unique date ideas, 30 unique questions to ask before planning the wedding of your dreams!

If you want to work with me, I always ask what your vision for the day is. Your wedding day experience comes first. I will do everything I can to make sure the end result is perfect - whatever that means for the two of you.

If you are looking for a timeless, intimate but fun wedding, save this peek into Brett & Tiffany’s Wedding Day for some tips!

They wanted beautiful wedding photos that made them think ‘wow, that’s us’ and to naturally capture the intimate, romantic, fun parts they bring out in each other.

After some very moving speeches where you could actually see the love and laughter (did you catch that look they shared?!), we headed to the vintage car where we could get some fun shots with their “kids” 🐶

Brett told me “we’re romantic, but we like to laugh” and I think these car shots showcase both these aspects of their relationship perfectly.

Your wedding day should be about you as a couple and the feelings you share. I’m here to make sure the photos will bring that day back to life vividly - emotions and all - 10, 20, 30 or more years in the future!

How do you bring together a group of 180 people from around the world who don’t know each other to ensure they already feel like lifelong friends on your wedding day? Well, here’s what they did, and I recommend it to all future couples!

When I first met with Arran & Abigail to discuss their wedding, the ringing theme I heard was CONNECTION. Connection with their friends. Connection with family. But most important - Connection with each other.

Their special day brought together guests from all over the world that had never met - it was important to the couple that each friend felt included. They wanted quality time with everyone, and to create space for guests to connect and build friendships with each other.

How did they make it happen? With Casual Pre-Wedding Get Togethers

In the days leading up to the wedding, they planned casual opportunities to meet together (like at a bbq in their backyard)! So by the time they all arrived at the wedding, they felt like friends!

Personally, I’ve been recommending this to my 2025 clients. If you are married, is this something you thought to do? If you are planning on getting married, is this something you would consider?

What else did they do?

They Broke Tradition

They opted not to have a wedding party. This allowed Abigail quality time with her closest girlfriends and members of her family as she got ready alongside them.

I hear this from almost all my clients: “We’re worried we will be too awkward in front of the camera”

Everyone wants to look and feel natural in photos.

My philosophy is simple. The emotions you feel when you are getting your photos taken will be the emotions you feel when you look back on them every year.

That’s why it’s so important that you are comfortable - which I can almost guarantee you will be. Specifically on a wedding day I do these 3 things to make everyone comfortable

1. Teat photo time like a fun activity part of the wedding day - not something to dread

This is the 1st time the wedding party is together, it shouldn’t be painful.

2. When needed, I give on-stop guidance to keep things easy, comfortable, and distracting so you have no time to think about the camera

3. I won’t take you away for hours on end, it’s your wedding day, you should be with the people you love most. (We’ll still make sure we get those must haves though!)

The candids will be the most meaningful throughout the wedding day anyways! I don’t need 3 hours to get the perfect shot of you two. Lastly, we can divy up the portrait time. Let’s do some in the morning/afternoon, and save some for sunset!

If this sounds perfect to you, shoot me a DM for any 2025 Wedding Inquiries 👌

Tiffany & Brett had a VISION for their wedding day, let me tell ya.

These two are the type of people you meet and think ‘yeah makes sense they’re getting married’ - they give off ‘soul mate’ vibes. Brett looks at her like she’s the only person on this earth. I saw it when we met on our first call, and I saw it the entire wedding day.

These two wanted elegant, romantic, and timeless + a little whimsical. They wanted to feel that unconditional love for each other - which I don’t know about you, but I feel it in every photo.

Reid reached out with a big plan to surprise his girlfriend with a proposal, and he wanted everything to be just right. We spent time planning together—choosing the perfect spot on Vancouver Island with a stunning view, talking through how I capture those moments perfectly, and going over the little details on the do’s and dont’s of proposals.

Having lived between Portland, California, and Seattle, Reid and his girlfriend have had their fair share of adventures. This time, their road trip brought them to Vancouver Island. With a bit of nervous excitement, Reid took my tips to heart - he brought champagne, kept things playful, and trusted the process.

I’d say he nailed it.

My style continues to shift. It’s no longer about perfect poses. It’s about movement, real love, and connection. It’s taking the direction of art and emotion, not just the ‘must have moments.’ It’s capturing what’s real—nothing forced, just you being you, caught together.

The ‘Truth Behind What Makes for a Great Photo’

Now, this isn’t the ideal answer because it goes against what a lot of people believe. They see a stunning photo on Pinterest and think “I love that pose, I love the way that photo looks, I want one just like it”

Although recreating a photo to a tee will look nice, it will never ‘wow’ you. The photos you admire have a unique quality.

That unique quality is ‘humanness.’

It’s real. It’s once in a lifetime. It’s emotional whether that’s so deeply in love it hurts, or there’s so much laughter you smile just thinking about it.

If you’d like a photographer who knows where and when to be for the real moments, not the posed ones, we’ll be a perfect fit 👌 Feel free to shoot me a DM if you’d ever like to work together!

I recently gave a speech at a Wedding that changed my perspective on capturing that portion of the night. I didn’t realize how important the reactions from their parents were to me - along with the bride and groom of course. I spent weeks on the speech. I wanted to ‘do justice’ to the lives and relationship of two of my best friends.

You don’t realize how quickly a speech goes until you give one. You don’t realize how hard it is to look at all the important people in your life and theirs. I wanted to know who laughed and who cried, but with the nerves of giving a speech, you sort of just black out.

I changed my perspective on speech time. I focus on the couple, but I also focus on their parents, their siblings, their best friends. These are the candid, hard-hitting moments of the day.

On a side note - candles might be a new ‘must’ for myfuture wedding.

Evan reached out looking to surprise his girlfriend with a proposal! Now.. he put some SERIOUS thought into this plan.

Last summer they planned a road trip from Calgary - Seattle - Vancouver Island which ended at French Beach on Vancouver Island. They recreated some photos where her family used to spend time on that same beach.

About a year later, they were attending a wedding on Vancouver Island again and he thought ‘hmmmm well we’re free for a few days, now would be a perfect time.’ But before he asked, he made sure to translate a handwritten letter into her mother’s language and ask for her blessing.

Evan wanted this proposal to be a celebration - he wanted those big smiles captured and that’s exactly what we did. A beautiful, windy evening spent at French Beach.

I hear this from clients all the time: “We don’t have many photos together and don’t know how to pose for the camera.”

But they always absolutely nail the shoot. We planned a Bridal Portraits style of shoot in a relaxed setting without the wedding day rush. A time to just enjoy plusssss eat some delishous donuts.

On our initial call, I asked them what they love doing together. Sharing food - so for their session, we went out and got donuts! Love having a personal touch to these types of shoots, a way to capture their connection.

And of course, their dog had to be part of the photos 🐕

Couples that are deeply in love >>

Saratoga has always been one of my favourite spots for engagement photos. I have to admit, my favourite beaches will always be the endless sand beaches in Tofino butttt Saratoga is a close second on all of Vancouver Island.

Beautiful greenery, trees, mountain views, and blue skies which all make for the perfect backdrop! One thing I especially love is that it’s rarely crowded, especially in the evenings.

If you’re looking for a great spot for engagement photos, Saratoga Beach in Campbell River my just be your spot!
