Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre is a unique performing arts venue located on the beautiful, historic University of Alberta’s’ Augustana Campus in the heart of the pr

ovince. It was conceived of as a performance space to celebrate our cultural achievements and provide access to the performing arts for the community. The overall design for the building included a great deal of attention not only to what the community was envisioning for the space but also towards sustainability for the future. The theatre is home to the largest integrated photovoltaic array,(solar panels), which blanket the entire 70’fly-tower, including the North face, and is the first theatre in North America to use entirely LED lighting, including the stage lights, on the interior and exterior of the building. The Cargill Theatre seats 580 on two sloped floors, yet retains an intimacy which will provide audiences with a closer connection to the artist and provide the artist an opportunity to connect on a deeper level with the audience. The sound, lighting and projection systems are state of the art and will provide every visitor, in every seat a memorable live performance experience

The Mayer Family Community Hall provides alternative space for many different kinds of events. The hall, which also boasts a sprung floor, can be configured to accommodate between 135 and 200 people seated, either at tables or theatre style. It can be used for smaller scale performances, receptions, conferences, or rehearsals. This is a space which can be rented and configured to suit any need! Built for the future

Have you fallen in love with the intimate atmosphere of our Cabaret Series? We have a very special, one-of-a-kind show in the Mayer Family Community Hall that is perfect for the whole family!

We are so excited to present "The Joy" with Brendan McLeod! This hilarious, insightful, and unique comedy places you right in the middle of a live creative process.

This is a show for all ages! It's the only show in our centre-presented season in the Mayer Family Community Hall that is not 18+, so children are welcome and encouraged to come and give feedback to Brendan after the show! You and your kids can be a part of the creation of this wonderfully heartwarming show about discovering music as a young child.

Looking for something fun and family-friendly to do over the Thanksgiving weekend? We have you covered! Bring your kids, grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles for a night of laughter and connection.

This powerful multi-media production immerses you in the passionate but brief romance that shaped the lives and music of two of the most influential storytellers of all time. Explore what happened during their time living together in California as they influenced each other's works and created some of the most celebrated songs ever written—including "Hallelujah," "Both Sides Now," "Big Yellow Taxi," and "I'm Your Man."

The show features the stunning talents of singer-songwriter Dana Wylie, who Penguin Eggs magazine compared to Joni Mitchell, and Joe Nolan, whom The Globe and Mail named "an Americana wunderkind."

Even more exciting? One of the musicians that performed AT Lilith Fair, the incredible Paula Cole, is currently at TIFF promoting the doc — and next month, she's coming to OUR stage, joined by the dynamic Sophie B. Hawkins! 🎤🔥

🎶 October 17 will be a night to remember as we welcome two powerhouse women who helped shape a movement — and continue to move us with their voices, stories, and songs. Grab a drink and get ready for a night of incredible music—Norsemen Brewing Co. will be on-site with delicious refreshments!
