Shirley's Flowers and Friends

Shirley's Flowers and Friends Floral based crafting workshops and retreats. Private bookings or public seasonal events. Shirley was born in 1937. She was artistic, creative, and practical.

In the 1970s she owned the local flower shop in Three Hills, AB, and it was here I got my first taste of floral designing. I can remember sitting up past midnight helping my mom wire flowers for wedding bouquets. As time when on I explored and gained expertise in other creative activities: the art of Pysanka, card making, scrapbooking, writing, and more. On the non artistic side, I have been:

a combine pilot, plumbers apprentice, waitress, cook, caterer, cashier. On the personal side I am a: mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and widow. Life has led me down a twisted path, I intended to retire, instead I have relaunched Shirley's Flowers and Friends, partnering with my cousin, Bernadette; focusing on sharing our combined creative expertise.

Who is Shirley?

Shirley was an amazing woman and mother with a love of coffee, flowers and anything creative. She is the reason that I am a florist. During my teenage years, I spent many Friday nites sticking wires up flower’s stems so Mom could make these amazing cascading bouquets.

She believed in quality and freshness, traits that I also believe in.

She is the reason I bought Three Hills Floral and Gifts and changed the name to Shirley’s Flowers and Friends.
