Dearest Gentle Reader,

I’m about to step on some toes in regard to the Opening Ceremony at the Paris Olympics.

The headless woman was Marie Antoinette. She ruled over France and was found guilty of treason, conspiracy, and stealing from the country.

Sound familiar?

Also, it was not the Last Supper. It was a depiction of an ancient Greek Bacchanal… because, you know, the Olympics are ancient and Greek. Surprise!

And if you didn’t know, a Bacchanalia is an uncontrollably promiscuous, extravagant, and loud party. The parties often spanned several days which honored the god of wine, Bacchus (the blue guy covered in grape vine). He is also known as Dionysus, the Greek god of fertility, later known as the god of wine and pleasure.

And finally, it was not Death on a pale horse. It was Sequana, Goddess of the Seine, the River in which the boat precession took place. She was meant to be the representation of the Olympic spirit and of Sequana.

If some of you weren’t so busy trying to end the Dept. of Education, you might know this.

Loosen the clutch on your pearls.

Yours truly,
Lady Francis

EDIT ✍🏼

Art is free thinking. You’re allowed to interpret it differently from others. Art is expressive in nature, it involves creativity and imagination. Art evokes emotion.

I hope that if you’re reading this, that you do your own research. You do not have to agree with me. What a boring world this would be if we all thought the same!

The flags πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² are getting closer on the Gordie Howe Bridge. Easter weekend 2024.
The Gordie Howe International Bridge is a cable-stayed international bridge across the Detroit River, currently under construction. It will connect Detroit, United States of America πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² and Windsor, Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ by linking Interstate 75 in Michigan with Highway 401 in Ontario. The bridge is named after Canadian ice hockey player Gordie Howe, whose celebrated career included 25 years with the Detroit Red Wings, and who died two years before construction began.

β€œI’m a big believer in winging it. I’m a big believer that you’re never going to find perfect city travel experience or the perfect meal without a constant willingness to experience a bad one. Letting the happy accident happen is what a lot of vacation itineraries miss, I think, and I’m always trying to push people to allow those things to happen rather than stick to some rigid itinerary.”

Definitely feel this! I started as a kitchen w***h in a little place by the water. Had no idea what I was doing but learned what was needed and expected in a little tiny kitchen with a crew that taught me what it took. What it takes. I will always be grateful for that fateful day I showed up lookin' for a job and a purpose. I found both. βœŒοΈπŸ’šπŸ˜‹

β€œI started working as a dishwasher one summer, and it was really a big event for me because up to that point, I was lazy. . . . I was the kid that if you hired me to shovel your walk in winter, I would really do a terrible job of it and probably find a way to weasel out. . . . There was no group, there was no club to which I wanted to be a member.

This was the first discipline, the first organization because it is a very militaristic organization, the kitchen brigade; the first people whose respect I wanted and the first time in my life that I went home feeling respect for myself. I mean, I'd work–it was very hard work. You had to be there on time. There were certain absolute rules. And for whatever reason, I responded to that. It was a mix of chaos but also considerable order that I guess I needed at the time. You know, there's a joke or the old, you know, I found a home in the Army. Or I found a home with a circus. I met circus folk who I felt–it was a subculture I wanted to be part of. And I was willing to work very hard to be part of it.”
