Winter conditions — even indoors — can be hard on florals, but with just a little attention, you can keep our freshcut flowers happy, even in the heart of winter. Here are a few pro tips on keeping your blooms looking their best:

💐 watch the temperature. Keep the flowers away from cool windows or drafty doors, and at a distance from the warm, dry heat sources like heat registers and vents.

💐 pay special attention to less obvious heat sources, including appliances like TVs and refrigerators

💐 every day or two, refresh the water and trim 1/2 an inch from the bottom of the stems with a sharp knife

Where are you giving this season? What is the Noco non-profit that most inspired you in 2024?

In these last few days of the year, the slower pace and the abundance of the holidays has me thinking of year-end giving. In 2024, we here at Quinn's had the opportunity to support, with the help of our customers and community, some important local causes.

We supported Local Food for Local Good through our Tulips for Tummies program and Sustainable Cobourg through our spring vase re-use campaign. We provided flowers for Northumberland Ball, Habitat for Humanity's Sunday Dinner, and decor for Hoho Noco, and we're a drop off location for Stockings for Seniors.

Being able to give back to this same community that keeps us going is something we are so grateful for.

Walking through the shop's flower cooler is always exciting and inspiring! Did you know that you can come into the shop anytime, to choose the ingredients for an arrangement based on what's available, your favourite colours, or whatever appeals to you on a given day? We're happy to do the designing, but we know how fun it can be to get playful with flowers this way!

Every ornament carries so many memories, and each one is visited again, when it's unwrapped and hung on the tree, year after year. How will you remember this year? Our Story

Our team includes 6 beautiful and talented ladies. Julie the owner since October 2017 is a fiercely independent woman with a vibrant and nature inspired design approach who has put her own impression on this already established and respected business.

Store manager Melissa has been at Quinn’s since her mid-teens. She is a floral veteran with the plant knowledge to prove it. She is the grease that keeps the gears rolling in the shop daily life. Melissa is a dog lover and can’t wait to greet you and your Fido next time you stop by.

Heather started her career as a co-op student at Quinn’s before moving to Ireland and opening her own store. Once she moved back to Cobourg she joined the team again and we can thank her as well as Melissa for ever evolving and creative window displays.

Wedding designer Jean has also previously owned her own store before joining Quinn’s several years ago. Jean loves a rich and full, luxurious design style.
