Position: Maintenance Supervisor Location: The Crossing at Ghost River Ltd.
The Maintenance Supervisor is a hands on, working position, responsible for working with the General Manager and Facilities Manager to develop, implement, reinforce, and carry out building maintenance, standards, and services. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the “The Crossing at Ghost Rivers” facilities, maintenance program, buildings, grounds, equipment, and physical assets and ensuring all are maintained at a high standard for the long term and the company follows all applicable standards and regulations.
The Maintenance Supervisor’s role requires someone to keep a keen eye on the day-to-day maintenance of the buildings and property, as well as the ability to look and plan ahead, so that we continue to improve and evolve our standards and services for our guests. The position requires flexibility in regard to working schedule and may include weekend work.
Key Reporting Relationships
- Reports to the General Manager for daily operations
- Reports to the Facilities Manager for long term strategy, projects and development
Direct Reports
- The Maintenance Supervisor is directly responsible for the supervision of full time and part time maintenance employees and seasonal grounds keepers.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and perform the maintenance and repair of The Crossings buildings, equipment, grounds and electrical and mechanical systems.
- Implement schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate and perform cleaning, snow removal and landscaping tasks.
- Assist in administrating contracts for the provision of supplies and services.
- Organize trades and contractors as needed.
- Manage and execute facility's maintenance budget and assist in planning.
- Assist in hiring maintenance staff.
- Train and supervise maintenance staff.
Skills and Attributes
Maintenance Expertise:
- The maintenance manager is expected to have basic knowledge and experience in the following areas;
o All major aspects of building systems. These include but are not limited to; electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, carpentry, and painting and be able to learn and trouble shoot.
o Appliances and equipment, which includes, fridges, freezers, small engines, snow blowers, boilers, laundry machines, dishwashers, etc.
o Fresh water and wastewater systems
- Knowledge of best practices for preventative maintenance procedures
- Monitor and evaluate facility and maintenance operations and suggest improvements to increase efficiency, lower costs, and improve the facilities.
People Development
- Ability and desire to train, coach and mentor maintenance staff and grounds keepers.
- Develop a highly skilled and cohesive Maintenance team that fosters cooperation and idea exchange.
Financial
- Manage maintenance department purchases and expenses according to the maintenance budget.
- Consult with General Manager or Facility Manager for purchases that are outside of normal day to day operations.
Grounds keeping
- Grounds keeping tasks may include, but is not limited to; mowing, planting and landscaping, burning, w**d and pest control, maintaining roads and paths, snow removal, deck maintenance.
Emergency Response
- Provide hands-on support and solutions to any maintenance emergency that might occur.
- Provide overall leadership should a maintenance emergency occur, when we have guests on site, allowing service personnel to focus on guest-related activities while fixing the issue behind the scene
Occupational Health and Safety
- Adheres to all OH&S regulations and complies with standard safety procedures.
- Act as the Crossing’s Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) representative.
Other Operational Requirements
- When necessary, assist with other operational tasks such as moving furniture and beds, kitchen and service jobs.
- Provide hands on support with all recycling efforts.
- Provide support by cleaning outdoor and indoor facilities as required.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (outlook, word, excel)
- Self starter, problem solver, organized, and neat

- Physically fit (ability to lift 100 lbs)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
