HOLY S**T I HATE MAGIC WON A FRANKIE AT !!! For Outstanding Poster Design!! As I said at the podium: it is only fitting and right that a magic show not be nominated for any other award :p

The poster idea--and indeed, the entire show--was a collaboration between myself and Travis Bernhardt.

My partner Allison and I drained an entire acrylic paint pen and half a pot of yellow paint, spending several hours defacing 30 posters by hand, each with a unique design. Next time we do the show, I guess I'll have include a laurel for the award! And find a way to deface that too.

Extra special thanks to our stage manager Micheline, our tech Louisa, and a few other folks who know who they are ;)

I Hate Magic is going into a cupboard for a while, and I am going to rest.

Thank you so much to CreativeMornings/Vancouver for inviting me to speak! I'll admit I was pretty nervous going in, but the audience was so welcoming and engaged--I was buoyed by their warmth.

Thank you to Mackenzie Fleming for hosting--her first time, though you'd never know it! Thank you to Adam Ambrose for his musical opening, with themes and lyrics so real and dovetailing beautifully with my talk. Thanks to the CM team, Mark Busse and the enormous group of volunteers and tech crew and staff of SFU Woodward's! Thanks to Zoran, for bringing me to this wonderful place. I'm pretty excited--it's the first time I'm giving a lecture (with slides and everything) since burning out of academia. And I'm gonna talk about that, my approach to magic, the nature of perspective; and share a new trick developed just for this talk!

Huzzah! The Fraser Valley Magic Company installation Banquet was this Friday evening. We held it in our favourite local Mission brewery -- thanks to all who made it out.

I am honored to have won our club's Showmanship Award, for my performance of Magic Dropout at the Vancouver Fringe--thank you to the members who nominated me :) And then, by one vote, I won the Steve Dickson memorial "Poo On A Stick" competition! The prize? This lovely Number "Two" Pencil!

Oh and I'm now the president of the Fraser Valley Magic Company--I guess I should have lead with that :)

Looking forward to doing more work for the FVMC over the next two years, and serving the local magic community. If you're interested in finding out more about magic, or have any suggestions for FVMC activities or events, do get in touch!

It is a real honour to have been asked to host the annual Circus3 NYE Variety Show at the Vancouver Playhouse!

It starts at 8pm on Dec 31 and ends around 9:15, giving you plenty of time to put the kids to bed and ring in the new year at midnight! There will be so many incredible circus and variety acts, and I hope you can make it :)

It all starts early at 8:00 pm, leaving you enough time to get home to bed with the little ones or continue the festivities elsewhere to ring in 2024. The show is fun for all ages, but not just for kids!
