With many roots in our Community in The Great North West, our newest brain child, "Old Growth Productions" (O.G.P), is the same quality Production/DJ/Music crew you all know and love, with a brand new look, spirit and enthusiasm, while sticking to our wholesome, block poppin, coastal driven Roots. Like a forest, we have all grown into something Magnificent, learning how to age gracefully while always exercising our rights to have fun and come together and celebrate to the stereo sounds of our inner Pirate. Old Growth Productions is a ceremony we have been practicing for eons, and furthermore, its Freedom, of expression, of soul, and of everyday life. O.G.P. Old Growth Productions: Michael O'Donnell (The M-O-D, Bass Monkey) - [email protected] Beginning his musical career in the Georgia Staright, The M-O-D has been strongly motivating the electronic scene in the North West for over a decade. With his diverse variety of music ranging from Latin House, Balkan, and Swing House, to Reggae Dancehall, Mumbaton and Hip Hop, to good old fashioned hard hitting House Music. The M-O-D has boat loads of experience, being apart of the Infamous trio, "TheNakedDJ's", playing along side the likes of Chali Tuna, Nickodemus, Adam Shahik, and The Funk Hunters, amongst many more; and having his hands in many events such as the most recent and famed "Atmosphere", "Pychadelic Circus New Years", "The End of The World Solstice Party @The Waverley Hotel", "New Years '11 '12" @ The Waverley Hotel", and of course theyre 3 1/2 year success, "Reggae Dancehall Night @ The Mex. "Michael" has also played host in a number of festivals such as "Cortes Island Music Fest", And "Forest Fest", (a protestival designed to save the Old Growth Forests), beside famed others that dare to be mentioned. Classically trained on the piano as a child, Mike has just released himself as the self proclaimed electronic artist "Bass Monkey", a bass heavy, hiphop reamedy, with a soulfull blend. In Mike's spare time he is always playing with synthesizers, beat machines, and keyboards, living in a life of bass and mellodies. Last year as well as the year before he had the chance to play his live set at Basscoast, Atmosphere Gathering and many other secret locations that can not be mentioned, He has kept up his Djing skills taking care of the North Vancouver Island and beyond as a multi genre Dj and as always, keeping things well timed and placed… He is also well known for his shenanigans as part of The Naked Djs which have been rockin’ the north island for many many years, Last year was a blast for them, they had the privilege of rocking Tall Tree, Basscoast, Diversity and Atmosphere gathering. He has also taken on a new project called Paid Vacation, with his roommate/business partner EM.ASH. Aiming to play extended tag sets of mellower grover selections for years to come. Refining his craft for more than a decade EM.ASH is a purveyor of underground house music on Vancouver Island. As part of Little Island Productions he was the driving force behind DELIGHT, a monthly night in the Comox Valley; part of the ATMOSPHERE GATHERING creative team and is an eight year veteran of the infamous Carrington Bay parties. In 2011 he teamed up with local fitness guru Leanne Zdebiak-Eni to bring Bellyfit Live to Courtenay, supporting local charities and promoting an active, healthy self image for women of all ages. He has also been actively involved with the Elevate the Arts bi-annual festival since its inception. EM.ASH was featured in the ‘WEST COAST UNDERGROUND’ mix series in 2010 and independently released his debut artist album ‘heartbeat’ in the fall of 2012. The following two years saw EM.ASH tour with VIMA winner Emily Spiller, DJ in Belize and Mexico and created the DJ duo TEAMWORK with his long time friend Agent Hooper. EM.ASH took another step in 2015 with remixes signed to Haustronaut Recordings, BeatLounge Records and System Recordings.
